Both my girlfriend and I did our taxes with this and filed them without any problem. Just another option.

I didn’t even think of trying demonoid. DUH!
Thanks.

H&R block is HORRIBLE.

the people there make like 10 bucks an hour and are not qualified to give any sort of real tax advice. they have a program, they ask you questions, and plug your info into the system. it is a joke.

my first year after college, i earned income in multiple states, and it was a bit beyond my tax knowledge. I earned income in Alabama, Minneapolis, Florida, and Pennsylvania. some of the states and municipalities i earned income in require you to pay income taxes, thus i had a decently complex tax situation. i went to H&R block, as i was in the midst of working 80hrs per week and didnt have the time or energy to deal with it myself, and it was the most horrid and wretched experience ever. the retard who was “doing my taxes” completely screwed it up, and i ended up having to file an amended return.

in retrospect, i should have just done it myself, especially knowing what i know now. but, it was complicated, and i was fooled by marketing and laziness/exhaustion.

H&R BLOCK SUCKS. if you want your taxes done right, go to a cpa or do them yourself using turbotax. if you file a 1040ez, and have a simple tax situation, it is actually free.

took me 10 minutes to do mine last night using turbo tax premier, state and federal.

I used TaxSlayer again this year to file my gf’s taxes, cost her 22 bucks or something.

I’m awaiting my W2 from NY but probably will go that route as well as last year they were pretty fast about my return.

I just re-did my taxes in turbotax (torrent download) to double check TaxCut which I paid for. Sure enough, they came up with the exact same refund for state/federal.

Both were pretty idiot proof but Taxcut was a little unclear about declaring my property taxes and I actually missed the section my first time through. Comparing to my prior year it was pretty obvious I was missing it and corrected it in no time, but TurboTax specifically prompted for it which makes more sense.

I think I paid ~$80 at EG.
I have an apt. tonight, so I will tell you what I paid tomorrow.

Someday I will just do it for myself. With software its really easy.
I started using EG in 04 when my wedding, house, and 1st child came along.

Prior to that, I used to use TurboTax.

Free federal, 11.95 to file the state. Really good functionality too.

I found TurboTax Premier with NY State that I am using based on recomendations by a lot of people who are all expierenced in finance and have similar tax returns.

THe only question is that I live at UB on campus till December of 07. After that, I moved to Buffalo permanently in January but my license and pernament mailing address are all in Rochester at my house and just been paying people rent all year. Is this gonna get me in trouble to claim moving expenses? Can I write off the gas expense for miles driving my stuff from Rochester to Buffalo?

Also, for the state taxes it asks for any tuition expenses paid. Can I claim all my loan payments as deductions I made for student loans?
