lol blackberry

The only thing they have that works well is the provisioning and management servers but now Apple and Android are opened up to Enterprise, they work well with MDM systems to provide remote wipe and other enterprise features.

Back when I still did IT I remember nothing but issues with the BES server and it losing sync with phones :frowning:

That was a security feature.

Oh it wasn’t good. It just was their first break into an enterprise managed phone for data loss prevention audits. The market has caught up with the mobile device managers and BB is behind. Also, BBM was the big thing as it didn’t take text messages, it used data. We now have seen that get blown away by iMessage, FB Messenger, and WhatsApp

Even apple configurator can do some pretty basic locking down. Only use certain SSIDs, disable features (app store, camera, etc),

We use MaaS360 for Android/iPhone. All the BB’s went to the shred bin.

i held the passport… yucky.

still an ardent BB7 9900 Bold user… wont switch any time soon. I have used an iphone 4S for a bit recently… convinced me not to switch.

i’ll happily conceded that the phones are 6 years out of date at least though.

hoping the Classic brings it up to make only one or two years behind… that would do me fine.

how a company can wilfully stay so far behind their own industry for so long is crazy to me

frig…

i swear there is some nefarious force out there simply killing any attempt to bring this phone-format back in to being.

I’m pretty sure this is the wrong thread for this bump.

But yes, end of an era.

Hummmmmm…

Interesting.

Not for me personally. I could see this being a cheap alternative in impoverished areas.
