lookin for some info

so i’m lazy and have no idea where to get the information i want so i figured i’d throw this out there

i refuse to ruin my car and put a rollcage in it, fire extinguisher, whatever other rediculous shit i might need to run 10’s or trap a certain speed… so this year when i hit the track i’m just going to run 1/8 mile runs until im sure i got out of the hole real good… because i’m gonna get kicked out

what i want to know is what 1/8 trap speed/time am i looking for to = a low to mid 10sec 1/4.

i know with fwd honda’s its going to be a higher trap speed than usual because of traction issues, so does anyone have a breakdown or info of some sort, or something where i can put in different 1/8miles times/speeds and it gives me a rough 1/4mile estimate?

I’d guess 110-115 in the 1/8.

Go to a track rental where you are safer.

i got sum in for ya…

lol, thats hank - i cant understand how threads get off topic :crackup

lol!! who luvs ya baby??

now back on topic or you’ll get this

Where the fuck do you find this shit?..wait, don’t tell me.

I’m think if you hi 110-115 in the 1/8 you’ll be well into the 10s, depending on your suspention setup and tires. There is a prelude that is running mid 10s in the 1/4 that is trapping 145ish (I can’t find the exact numbers ATM). He’s got slicks, traction bars and custom spring rates tho.

brooks ran 10.6 at 131… i thought his 1/8 was like 106 or something… i probably wont get as good of a launch as him, because i have to much trq and hes a better driver :lol

10.6 is MID TO HIGH 10s which is a BIG difference from MID to LOW 10s. Right around 110 and you should be golden. Gearing plays a big role too. 5spd vs 6spd 3/S trap similiar but hit the 1/8 at different MPHs.

makes sense.

ill be in 4th at 110 is i hit that at the 1/8 mile, the only thing im pissed about is that im gonna have to shift into 5th before the 1/4 is over ::slight_smile:

i wish i had a bit longer gearing, like 140 in 4th would be perfect :lol

Yep. The little shit is going to kill ya. On pump, I was trapping LOW 12X and I would be in 4th gear for a fraction of a second. The shift killed me :frowning:

Consider raising your rev limiter.

yeah… i think on DR’s and pump raising the rev limiter might work well, cause i should be somewhere around high 120’s - 130. the only thing im worried about on race is choking the 30R out… i’m going to be maxing it as it is… so raising the rev limiter is only going to push it that much harder ::slight_smile:

cough 35r cough

seriously… i was thinking about doin it but i’d want 950 for my turbo… and then i’d have to get the 35R which is more money, and i just bought my .82 for the 30R plus ill max my fuel pump… dizzy… axles… clutch… its to much money for this year.

next year if i get the job i want, i’ll throw a 4088 on it with all the necessary supporting mods and call it a track car.

That’ll do! http://forums.probetalk.com/images/smilies/doit.gif

Do you really need more than a 30R? Personally, I like having more turbo so I don’t have to push my car to make power.

If your setup can make like 700WHP or more, that’s more than enough for 99% of the people realistically.

erics car was trapping 99-101mph in the 1/8th, with a better 60 foot/better driving the car would have gone 10.6/10.7

my car trapped 107 in the 1/8th, i think with a better pass it would have been at or above 110mph as i short shifted into 3rd gear. my 1/4mile trap was enough for very low 10s with more seat time, and some launch control.

is there a way to only raise the rev limiter in 4th gear? :lol

I went 99MPH in the 1/8 but finished 127MPH or so. That car must have a nasty back end to get traps in a FWD car for a MID 10?

127mph is def enough for 10s i was knocking on that door the first time we took the car out when boost was dropping off to 16psi. 11.02@127mph. an awd car should et better than that with a trap like that.

erics car trapped 132mph so 31-32mph in the back half.

The ‘slowest’ trap for a 10 second 3/S is 129.20. Most need 130+ to get into the 10s. There was the infamous 11.0 @ 121 by Ray Pampena but he is legendary.
