Too bad OP doesn’t require anything from contractors to do business here, that I know of. I contacted the building inspector and there wasn’t anything he could do, but he took down the info since it was a pretty serious case. I was just saying when that was on the news, I’d gladly look like a fool on local TV if it meant getting my money back, I should call these stations. I’m going to contact my lawyer by the end of the week to start the process, and see how often I can legally contact this guy to put some heat on him.
Most towns require liability and worker’s comp insurance proof, and unfortunately little else. We run across guys like this all the time, usually when it’s too late. Our crews are constantly going through training and certification by GAF. If they don’t know how it’s done right, they don’t go up there.
