Looking to upgrade notebook.

ok well right now i have a:

Model: HP Pavillion dv6700 Notebook PC
Processer: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo CPU T7250 @2.00Ghz
Memory: 3.00GB
System type: 32 bit operating system
Windows Vista Home Premium SP1
NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
Screen 15.4"
160 GB HD

What should I be looking for notebook wise?

Used for gaming, school, work, and leisure.
Also looking for vista/windows 7 operating system.
Looking for fingerprint scanner.
160-320 gb HD
14-15.4 screen

sounds like you want a mac… but gaming + mac = no good.

are you looking to sell your current laptop?

Quite possibly, ill buy 1st then sell.
Dont like macs they give me headaches.
Always loved hp/compaq.

basically looking for same screen size in the new laptop.
also vista/windows 7

LOL most naive response ever…

Considering the new MBP’s have the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512MB in them, pretty good for a mobile.

Even my older MBP can handle gaming very well.

idunno, the current laptop he is running sounds pretty decent. Why not just upgrade the hard drive to be bigger, and re-install OS?

I wasn’t talking about hardware I was talking about software… :picard:

ever heard of boot camp? :picard: use windows for gaming, OS X for everything else

:picard:

And whats wrong with OS X? Do elaborate…

Lenovo IdeaPad Y730 WUXGA

ask no further questions.

Those fingerprint scanners are pretty stupid. If they had software built into windows that did the login that would be good, but the ones I have seen use ghetto third party software, and it makes the entire experience cheap…

IdeaPad Y730 uses facial recognition, there’s some videos of it on youtube seems to work pretty well

Im currently looking at IdeaPad Y730’s, HP Pavillion HDX 16, and Dell Studio XPS 16’s… they are all really nice but we’ve had awesome results with Lenovo’s at work so I am kind of leaning towards that…

lack of high-end 3D graphics support…most games are ported to mac from windows…

and price differential. why pay 3k for a mac when you can get the same performance for 2k or less on a pc?

I’m not a mac hater either, I like what they can do but not at the prices they sell them for.

just got a T400. ROCK SOLID laptop. I really like it.

yea we have been buying T61P’s (predecessor to the T500), fucking love them, have had zero problems with them at all hardware-wise.

I just like having a nice clamshell formfactor so i’ve been looking at the ideapads
