Has anyone had trouble getting the funds for First Time Home Buyers club? They’re dicking me around right now and it’s getting annoying, coming up on three months since I started this process and all I’m waiting on now is the grant money.
I don’t think I did, pretty smooth sailing from purchase to closing.
My sister did the First Home Club too, and had zero issues. she was in the house in under 30days.
I didn’t know you could close in 30 days in NY
house was unoccupied and had a motivated seller. I could always be wrong (she might have made the offer sooner than she told everyone), but it was FAST.
I had a HORRIBLE time trying to get the money, it held up my closing almost a month! I hope you don’t have the same problems I did.
It’s been about a month since we went to the FHLB with everything else approved, they’re just slow in response to everything it seems. They finally got back to me on April 1st (I assumed funds had finally cleared up) asking me for additional information, and I haven’t heard back from them since. I’m just really hoping I’m not going to have to wait til the beginning of May for funds to clear up again.
Keep calling them…hound any contacts you have there. I think we were in our house in under 2 months.

I closed about a month late due to the First Home Club on my first house years ago.
April FOOLS!
I was thinking the same thing lol
Unfortunately I only have my contacts at the bank, noone at the FHLB to call. I’d be blowing them up if I did.
Hahaha, that was the first thing I thought when they got back saying funds had finally cleared up.
You should really only need to speak with someone at the bank.
After 10 days of radio silence, finally heard back from the bank…and they’re just requesting more information. :banghead:
I guess it’s at least good knowing they’re working on it.
This is exactly what happened to me, and my mortgage woman at m and t was calling daily to FHC and by the time FHC would get back to her all the paperwork was outdated and needed to be done again with current info. Was such a pain in the ass…but for 7500 I was willing to do the BS.
I find it ridiculous that I can go to a car dealership and buy a new $100,000 benz with my credit and leave there in 1 hour yet for a $65,000 house it took me 2 months of aggravating jumping through hoops.
Good luck with everything, and don’t worry when its all over you will be happy with your new house
The grant money finally got approved, looks like I’m closing sometime next week! Woooooooooooo!
Drove by your house the other day. COngrats.
what ^ ha
solid pick up. Minimal work and you should have a good turn around… based on initial price of course
Because its actually way more then 65,000 to the bank and its 30 years of risk…
Thanks, you’ll have to stop by for a beer sometime once everything’s set up. Grout/tile in the kitchen/bath will be getting done next weekend or the one after if you still want to learn how.
Yep, still looking to pick up some repair knowledge. Might be juggling a few things at my own home but PM me if you need a hand.
