LPG (propane) as a vehicle fuel

I had an opportunity to purchase a vehicle that was gas and LPG powered, toggled by a switch on the dash. How hard it is to get Propane for a vehicle? Are there any filling stations in WNY?

In case anyone cares, the vehicle was a 2001 F150 7700 4x4 ext cab

If you do pass on it lmk as my bro in law will take it. You have to have some sort of filling station. He has a gas well on his property so he’s looking into doing it

It was at an auction. I was just researching because I think it is fairly likely for another one to pop up at another auction.

Also, this is Liquid Propane Gas, not natural gas, so your brothers well is likely cranking out the wrong fuel.

Holland propane? You can drive right up to the pump. Does the car have a tank like you would see on forklift or is it “built-in”?

also: My generator runs on propane or natural gas.:gotme: (Or gasoline too)

there is a natural gas fill station on mineral springs in ws

It had tanks permanently mounted in the bed and a separate filler door on the side.

Good call on Holland. I’ll call them soon!

they fill these at the natural gas place in niagara falls on packard road. drive right up to the pump

There are tons of cavaliers and ford f150’s with hardly any miles on them all over ebay…

They are all LPG from the factory.

lol i was just watching the wheeler dealer with the range rover they were trying to convert to lpg…

Saw that too. JJ, for some reason I can’t see you driving an F-series, LPG or not.:stuck_out_tongue:

Here: Alternative Fuels Data Center: Alternative Fueling Station Locator

Me either.

JJ, remember Mr. Snyder had a Propane car in Middle School…?

I don’t know all of the mechanics behind it but, it should be pretty simple I would think. Like I said my generator runs on either.:gotme: I beleive forklifts are just converted engines, I don’t think Toyota makes a special engine for their forklifts, it is just converted.

One thing I do know is that the lean/rich thing is opposite of gasoline. If you run it rich with propane it will burn up.

it wasnt that they couldnt convert it…

it was more of an issue that they were going to go over budget by doing so.

<3 wheeler dealers

This is also an issue between NG and LPG.

You should be able to fill it at most places, and it should be significantly cheaper by the lb than filling a grill tank.

I will end up supplementing my WVO with LPG to increase MPG and HP… once I put new injectors in her.

The CNG Cavaliers used to come into Basil all the time. What a pain in the butt they were. Same thing with the CNG Silverado’s for the state. When they have real issues it can be costly.
