Switching a motor from Gas -> LP and back.

Recently my parents bought a 96 Chevy Tioga Flyer off Ebay.
Cool stuff, right? 29’ RV.

The engine can run on Either LP Or Gasoline, as it was converted in 2000 (according to the stickers)

Anyone know much about them?

When the RV is running, it can switch from Gasoline -> LP just fine, nothing much changes at all except the engine seems to run much smoother.
However, When changing back from LP -> Gasoline with the engine running, things get hairy… There’s a lot of vibration, and it always ends in the engine stalling. When trying to restart the engine, it won’t go. Tried pumping the pedal, putting the pedal down and cranking it over, nothing. However, if you switch it back on LP it will start up just fine.

Anyone care to share any thoughts on running a vehicle on LP?

Haven’t even got a chance to gauge whether or not it’s more cost effective to run it on LP or Gas yet. Anyone have any thoughts on this either?

I’m not sure as to what motor is in it, because I’m not totally clear on the vehicle… lol.
It says Chevy Van 30HD on it.

edit and I dunno what that red switch is for.
The guy we bought it from said it has to be flipped in order to switch to LP, but we found that to be otherwise.
It was just some dealer in Rochester, he never dealt much with LP converted vehicles. He said it was only the 2nd one he ever had on his lot.
(his lot consisted of 3 RVs when we went there, lol)

That is so funny because I can’t start my generator on propane but once it is started on gasoline I can switch over no problem.
I think it just needs some fine tuning.

Just be sure to not run the propane rich!!!

Hmm… I guess I would probably have to find a way to adjust it then :stuck_out_tongue:
Any way of knowing if it’s running rich or not?

edit;
father said it’s a Chevy 454 inside.
