There was a time when that was a medium cam and 230+ was huge/extreme
Now people think a 224/224 is small
Actually
Tuning has come along way making it easier to run larger cams

^^ I have been reviewing that diagram since before I did the swap. I think the TSP 228R is the way to go for me. Copy and paste from other thread:
OT: you painting the new bumpers yourself?
I am not. I don’t have the skill or the patience for it, and don’t want to invest time and money into the tools needed to learn. I was thinking about taking it all to Zeon’s shop as I have heard good things about them but have not committed to anything.
Interested in painting them? FYI the rear bumper (ABS plastic) has a 6" long crack that will need to be repaired.
Additionally a cam will almost act like a smaller cam in a larger displacement engine.
So a 228/228 in a 6.0 may act like a 224/224 in a 5.7.
There is a lot to be said about a solid mid range cam that gives killer torque and great drivability.
Call comp cams and tell them what you have and what you want they can custom spec you a cam to order for free.
is that guys user name really “huge hairy cocks” ? Lol wtf
Just buy the entire cam + install kit with dual springs from Texas Speed it you end up saving a few bucks.
^x2
Update time. I was off of work for a week and a half and have been busy.
We have been getting hammered lately with snow, and I’m so glad I have this AWD bad boy to beat around in. It gets a good workout every time it snows. Bounced it off a few snowbanks so far, no issues whatsoever. I did a timing belt job on it over Christmas shutdown, including new belt, tensioners, idlers, and accessory drive belts. New brakes all around, oil change, and 2 new wheel bearings in front, so it has tons of life left in it. Hoping to wring another 75k-100K out of it (it has 118K currently).
My wife to be needed some better tires for her A4 to cope with the snow so I picked these up.
I did a side job for an acquaintance on his '02 540i, he needed an alternator and some cooling system parts. While ordering his stuff on RockAuto I saw these on sale and bought some. I have been been using the jack points with no pads for years now and this will save some wear and tear on the chassis.
Since the car is coming apart for paint work I picked this Slimmbones rear diffuser up to increase my sex appeal.
We decided to paint the kitchen over my “vacation”, so naturally while at Lowe’s I picked up paint supplies to paint the finished garage as well. Here are some swatches of color that will be accents around the garage. I will hold off on pics of the progress until it is done.
A couple of hours got me here. I had someone help me remove the hood also, and that’s resting on the roof (on a blanket) now.
Lemme know when we should start the turbo kit.
Nick: I have the hood off, I just need to pull that last fender. What is a good day for me to drop the rest of the shit off? Sext me
Drew: Fucking a man, I know. I have been spending more time working on the house than anything else. Ironically I enjoy it just as much as wrenching on the car.
When I bought my current house I worked on it non stop for a year and did enjoy it. However to compensate for lost time I bought two cars the following year haha.
LOL. While my “renovations” are more like simple upgrades compared to all the stuff you did at your place it’s still time consuming.
Speaking of 2 cars: while I have enjoyed this BMW a whole lot and probably won’t ever sell it, I have been thinking about a decent shape E36 M3 coupe as a weekend warrior in the upcoming years. Always had a soft spot for the styling and the sounds they make. This would be something I don’t modify, just put an intake/exhaust/suspension on it and enjoy it on long trips. E39 would remain the daily in summer, Outback winter beater…
Love the Pantone cards. My wife works with letterpress presses and they have Pantone posters on the wall with actual ink smeared on them to show the true color.
Oh, and I love this car.
Thank you. We are 75% done painting the kitchen (a sandy tan color). I want to finish painting the garage but the temperature isn’t helping. I may just put it off for a few weeks.
I think you should make the 560i badge. Years ago I saw a guy at an auto-x with a 557i badge and I think it’s great, those how know will enjoy it, those who don’t likely wouldn’t notice any badge anyway.
I’ll sell you mine:
SHifty, it’s auto correct? I absolutely love the car, though.
