you’re welcome
ive seen lower from a fresh motor ls1. builder installed wrong cam bearings for that year block
but yours was pretty low especially when AC was turned on
Car is town back down, new o-ring should be here soon. I’m at work now, and have a final tonight, but maybe tomorrow evening I’ll be able to find some time to reassemble it.
Finally had time to take the pickup tube off and start reassembling everything, found this -
Hopefully I’ll be able to get everything back together tomorrow night or Wednesday night. New o-ring was much tighter going back in, and it seemed like it went in straight.
that will cause some low pressure
Oh snap 50PSI of pressure on a cold start. w00t!
Thanks for the o-ring, Brian, and thanks for everyone’s responses.
sounds healthy oil pressure
Drove it around a bunch, everything seems healthy. 31PSI warm oil pressure.
30 psi is little low for warm, what weight you using? whats mileage on that motor and what type of gauge you using?
30 isnt bad for a stock motor it sshould be aboutr 35-38 on average
a thicker oil helps, i run 20w50 in my motors and have used 15w40 both resulting in 55-60 at warm idle with a ported pump
non ported pumps usually are 35-40 with 10w30 from my experience
keep eye on it with all the accesories on it and steering wheel full lock, if it seems to drop rather low then id be worried but if it stays solid where its at then run it. also whats the oil pressure at WOT?
10w30 dyno oil for the first few hundred miles, then going to change to 10w30 synthetic.
60xxx on the motor, and it’s an STRI gauge. I wouldn’t be surprised if the gauge was off a little bit. Idle is 850ish.
Not sure on the WOT pressure, I’ll check it out the next time I’m out.
never heard of that guage, where you reading pressure from? sorry if i didnt pay attention to that
just tossing this out there, is car extremely rich where fuel could be in oil to thin it out? But glad t osee you found the torn O ring. as long as it goes up with rpms then run it
The gauge is in the stock location on the top of the motor near the lifter valley. I would ASSume that, this high up from the oil pump, that 30PSI would be acceptable pressure. It was definitely rising with RPM, but like I said, I’ll double check the next time I take it out.
iuts not that rich last time we checkenfed it
Just curious but where are you getting oil pressure from the heads?
