Just wondering if anyone elses sits at 0 untill the rpms are up abit? Doesnt sound like a good thing to me having no oil pressure but i hear the gauge is known to be faulty?
It won’t be the gauge. Its most likely the oil pressure sender unit. They are known to fail commonly. But luckily they are relatively cheap and easy to replace.
ok thanks. because it is moving abit with the rpm’s it shouldnt be the oil pump failing would it?
MOST OEM oil pressure guages/volt guages are very unaccurate or even fualty right from factory!! So I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions untill you check it out!
If you really want to know what pressure you’re running and to be accurate, try finding a mechanical guage. I find that they work the best. You just have to run a copper line to the guage from where the sending unit is. It’s prety easy to instal and they aren’t super expensive either. They usualy come with a plastic line but I prefer the copper. They’re stronger. Good luck with that.
thanks guys. ya im going to install a mechanical gauge. i was just iffy cause its new to me. i has a tick but its coming from the leak on one of the exhaust manifold gaskets so its not internal. runs, pulls and shifts awsome
Pay LOT’S of attention to oil pressure.
One way oil pumps can fail is for internal leakage to increase more and more. The consequence is that less oil is circulated to the engine. Flow will increase with revs.
Keep an eye on it!

i had it checked and it was just the sensor. Im just waiting for the part then it should be good
Told ya it wasn’t the gauge. :yawinkle:
I didn’t think it was your oil pump either as that is not a common failure on the VG30DETT.
Glad you found the problem!
