You can’t even begin to tell me that it takes much skill to plant your right foot at the right time as it does to squeeze every hundredth of a second out around a 2 mile road course.
My reading comprehension is fine and i know that you said least skill, I dont believe that to be true, hence my statement(least ammount of skill couldnt be further from the truth). So maybe its you skills that arent up to par. And I know i wouldnt want to take my car on the track for a full session, eats up tires, brake pads/rotors, etc like crazy, and im not well off enough right now to spend $300-500+ by the time your done with the day/weekend for a race. Your opinion is yours and i cant change that, and dont want to.
I didn’t say it was cheaper. I’m simply saying it doesn’t take as much actual SKILL as it does CONSISTENCY to be fast in drag as it does to be fast on a road course.
you are implying that I said that no skill is required with that statement
STOP adding other shit to what I said. All I’m talking about is skill level and excitement and you continue to toss in random shit like cost, wear and tear, and effects on automotive industry
When I went to LVD last year there was a guy in an old red station wagon on slicks, every time he staged he did the same damn thing:
Burnout-lots of skill there, right?
Trans brake-again…skill? I think not
R/t-If you’ve ever played any game requiring decent timing, you can get a good r/t
What else is there? lol
As long as your car is setup right there is literally nothing to making a decent pass.
Sure when you’re being competitive you want to squeeze every hundredth, but even then it’s just repetition of non-skilled actions.
Unless you lose traction where basically all you can do is get off the gas and try to keep it straight, or power through it, depending on the scenario.
Right there is more going on inside the car in MOST cases on a road course, and im not bashing road racing dude, just tired of people being ignortant and saying drag racing is easy. YES if you have a stock automatic civic…sure its easy, you have a FAST car with aot of variables, its not s easy as most think.
I didnt say YOU said it was easy, i have heard that from ALOT of people, your statement was more or less the straw that broke the camels back for me, sorry it had to be you lol.
Ok, you have a 1500hp drag car, you have line lock, transbrake, a lenco trans, maybe nitrous on it, a chute, i think for the most part in road racing, you have the gas pedal, a brake, and the steering wheel, correct me if im wrong. And once again im NOT saying its harder, just alot going on inside a drag car in those few seconds compared to a road car…
And i would like to try a road course someday, i bomb up and down some twisty ass roads, and its fun, but idk if i would make a day of it. And until i do so i cant say i know EVERYTHING that goes on on a road course, i can only assume and make an educated guess, which is probably pretty close.
Exactly, like i said everything has to be spot on in a drag race, as where if you miss a shift or two on a long road course, in MOST cases it will not cause you to loose a race, yes you will drop in time, but its not as substantial as in a race that lasts say 10 seconds.
I would love to open track. However…I am not going to do it to my daily driver. Way too much wear and tear. Drag racing…while not exactly easy on the car is not as brutal as road racing. That’s one of the reasons why drag racing is so popular with this scene/age group whatever you want to call it. $20 to spend a night racing at LVD is pretty reasonable.
Right, thats one of the points i was tryin to get across, its fun a realativly inexpensive. I know i cant afford tires, pads and rotors after every race lol, just not that ballin yet ;D
