i pick up about 25 mph in the back 1/8th… just from the 2.7 60ft, to the 2.4 i picked up 4 tenths, and almost half a secong at the 330’
o cool i cant imagine the wheelspin u guys have my babby tubo gives me alot of wheel spin 1st and 2nd thats the problem with vw alot of thorque. this week ill try and launch really easy
i had my car slammed, then for the 2nd run i raised the rear up all the way, i was gonna drop the pressure to about 20psi and see if it helped, but i didnt get a chance to, my tranny disagreed with me. odd too as it shifted smooth into 2nd and 3rd. when i got on the return lane i went to put it in 2nd and i had to pull really hard on it… drove home fine, i think its either the shift tower, or the selector shaft… im gonna find out in a little bit if its the shift tower, just sucks since its fresh mt-90 and i have to drain it.
i try to roll out, and right when i start to ease into it, the tires spin, hit 2nd, spin and go… but im through the 60ft spinning first. i bet with a shorter FD id hook up better. the stock 3.65:1 gives me too long of a first gear, long gear = load, and boost. and if i shift early into 2nd i fight tons of lag.
i think if you didn’t go in the waterbox you may do better. i avoid that with street tires.
by the time my car makes it back to the track, itll be big boost, and hopefully on some stickier tires, if not slicks.
this wed… i’ll try 15 psi then the following wed i’ll try 20 psi. i think with 20 psi i should be a solid 110-112 at like 13.7 haha
\
i was told to run 18psi in the tires and it felt alot better . i dont know if its possable but i think the bug will run low 14s ill be happy with a 14sec daily.
Nice time. Too many damn shifts for the STi. I was going 12.2-12.3 with 1.9 60’s @ 112MPH.
a buddy of mine in NC went 14.5s on his stock 02 GTi 1.8t, but hes made over 400 passes, now hes doing 7.6@95 in the 1/8 mile, GT35R 4 motion swap… so chip with bolt ons is possible, high 13s are possible, just need seat time, and good 60’s
i bet if you ran just 93 you woulda been trapping a bit higher… you average traps were what 91-92 mph? just need some more practice and you should be low low 14’s… cough cough crank the wastegate cough cough :nod
my trap was 93 almost every run errr .
My best was a 12.4 @ 113 with a 1.74 60ft…thats about all she’s got. Good enough for me though.
How much boost can you run? Can you go past 20PSI?
well theoretically i can… i just don’t wanna rod to go through the block… when i do rods i can turn it up safely.
Nice. More than I can run on pump without the meth.
20psi worth of compressed air out of his turbo is a whole lot less than 20psi out of the turbo on your 3/s is it not?
The amount of air isn’t the issue but more the pressure/temp of the air.
If two cars can support XPSI, then they can support Y AIR MOLECULES or YYY AIR MOLECULES assuming the car’s supporting mods (engine/fuel system/etc…) can support it.
i get what you’re saying here but 15psi on turbo isnt necessarily the same amount of air being compressed out of another turbo, yes they are both compressed to 15psi but a* turbo may compress lets say 15lph to 15psi while another turbo compresses 10lph to that same pressure, one is going to be more dense at the same pressure. What temp issues are you running into out of curiosity? and yes ofcourse you can only put as much air as you can mix with fuel and of course have the engine that can take the abuse without blowing up :lol
The amount of air molecules is meaningless though. That’s my point. If the motor can handle the power and the fuel system support, etc… then you should be happy that you can generate that much power at that boost pressure. Think of it this way: With 15Gs, I made 375AWHP at 15-16PSI. If I went to 16PSI, I started to get knock as I could not go any higher than 15PSI on 93 octane. With my current setup, I made 460AWHP (Gain of 85AWHP) at the same pressure. I cannot go too much farther (like before) before knock set in. I got a bit more because the turbo produced cooler air at the boost pressure. If I could make 650-700AWHP at 16PSI, I’d be happy as hell as I could do that at 93 octane.
