Mandatory pop up for new member?

A lot of n00bs have been starting threads in non-classified sections to sell stuff.

How bout a pop up box that all new members must see when they activate their accounts?

Obviously nobody reads the terms and conditions. So a pop up box with a few sentences on it and an “OK” button to click.

The pop up could tell the new members about the for sale sections so that they dont make these threads in off topic or autos.

The pop up could always contain other information like the NWS section and the racism rules for example.

But keeping it short will increase the chances of them actually reading it.

seems reasonable, even though it shouldn’t be necessary.

Pop up blockers?

just bring back deleting threads, so when they fuck up they can fix it.

or give me one good reason that we cant delete them, that dosent involve, we want to laugh at someone and defer as far away from an automotive forum as possible, to further alienate ourselves from the rest of the racing world, and future vendors who arent friends of friends.

I’ll wait.

Start your own thread if you have a problem with deleting threads. Thanks

If they’re not reading the FAQ now what would a pop-up do? When was the last time you read terms and conditions or TOS for ANYTHING?

I would love the FAQ and guidelines to be mandatory reading for EVERY member, both current and new, as there are some new ones that are much better quality than current ones.

I’ll give you two recent ones: mordak, travisn.

and nelstoys

No. I already addressed this in that other thread. Even the staff does not delete threads, we just move them around.

Deleting threads leads to someone getting into a pissing match in a great thread and the original poster deleting the thread cause two ass holes messed it up. It is the job of the staff to delete posts or threads.

As for the mandatory pop-up, would you read it? I am thinking about a Force Read Thread, but it will need more than just dry rules in it.

A force read thread with a quiz after.

and a 500 word essay on how trolling is destroying our forum experience. Bonus points if you can argue why it is imperative to bring back karma+

Haha I actually like the quiz idea lol

what was the last force read thread? something about racism or something? or dunville… i cant remember

but i only read about 3 sentences into it before i was like whatever this doesnt really pertain to me and i went into the forum.

i still signed the dunville online petition though, so dont worry

I would definatly read a pop up with one or two sentences on it. But a pop up with a whole essay on it, I would not read.

Same, keep it short and it would be good.
or send them a pm and require them to say something in response to it or such before they can post.

or a timer like some other sites.

^ Yes, a timer. Problem solved. Boom.

no one would read it.

You can’t fix stupid…

What he said!

Process of natural selection. Fixed.
