Where in town can I buy some mandrel bends to do my intake plumbing?? I would like about a 16 gauge mandrel bent aluminum. Anyone know where?

do you have to get aluminum ones? Mopac stock steel mandrel bends.

You don’t need aluminum, unless you want to pay the bucks to have someone weld aluminum. Or you could just use silicone hosing to connect them. You can use mild steel or stainless.

I want aluminum. I will weld it myself. I just dont like stuff that can rust before my engine, after it I don’t care. So either aluminum or stainless.

Any time evan says anything regarding me don’t listen to it. We are best friends and he likes to be a dumbass. I weld aluminum and stainless all the time, I am a welder so thats what I get paid to do. Haha you guys are awesome.

Jason, any idea where I could get a good price on a TIG welder? Something that I can run off household current? I know Miller had a small portable one last year that you could run off 110 and you could weld up to 1/8 pretty easily with it.

Any help welcome.

Go to air liquide they have a few nice small units. Are you looking to weld AC or DC? If just dc then you can pay alot less than a high frequency ac/dc welder. Let me know what you want to do with it and I can help you out.

Hey Jason - and I know I’m thread jaking here with this topic :slight_smile: -

yeah I plan on welding aluminum and mild steel, so I’m assuming that I’ll need an AC/DC set up.

I used one in school that came in a small carrying case… it was totally portable and was great for small welds, say on 16 guage… but I forget now if it was AC/DC? I know I only tried it on mild steel, so I can’t remember.

Usually the portable ones are just dc. If you want to weld aluminum you will need ac and dc. Good luck with the purchase.
