Damn straight!
Yeah that’s weak… .no vids?
Hey mark thanks for the track day…unfortunatly we never got to meet
Hey Chris, your welcome, I hope you had a good time. Yeah it’s a little unfortunate… however, there’s always a next time
So Mark, because you are drifting in your sig pic, does that mean that there is drifting alowed at your events now?
sign me up!
Dude, how’d you get home so quick??
Tahbo powah
ka-t ftw! (in thick fog)
haha, since you’re KA-T’d, I recommend signing up the day before as you never know what will happen to your motor.
haha jk
Nah I’m not drifting, thats me locking up the brakes entering a corner.
Nah I’m not drifting, thats me locking up the brakes entering a corner.
oh so thats the valid excuse now? sweet I’ll remember that for next track day. RWD no ABS GTR FTW!
anyone have pix of the F430, pm me
thnx
hey Mark thanks for the track day, i had alot of fun!! also realized how slow my ae86 is, altough being my 1st time on a track i was able to keep up with people on the corners but on the straights…even the subaru waggons left me in the dust…need an engine swap, sr20det 13btt or the s2k engine would be nice choices.
i also caused my share of problems to some people…i wanted to apologize to the driver of the golden 240sx, i passed him on the corner going to the long straight and got black flagged, i’m really sorry, nobody got hurt but…ya know…
well i guess i could say that i ate more dirt that day than everyone put together…i think i spinned out 4 times that day with 3 causing me to go off track, and one of them causing a red 240sx to head off track to save my car and his, his oil pan got bent and i made him lose 2 hours of track time…
next time i better go to the track alone LOL!!
Hey Fred, np.
Just make sure you take it a little easier next time. It’s good that you were pushing your car but remember that going off the track and spining out, etc wastes time for everyone.
YELLOW FLAG!
Oh dude, when I black flagged you, you got SOOO scared LOL!!!
You pulled RIGHT off the track, you just gotta take a cool down then get off and be explained what you did wrong.
Fred, I was the one who talked to you after you got black flagged.
You looked a bit shook up…dont be…black flag doesn’t mean the end of the world.
But yea, learn the limits of your car so you dont push it just to the edge, but not over it.
Fred, I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. Taking a class will make a world of difference on the track.
Did you get a chance to do any ride alongs with some of the more experienced drivers or have someone ride with you to give pointers or was your day all trial and error?
well i did take a ride on someone’s car around the track, my problem wasnt the track but my car, i was struggling to control it.
well althought the shocks were tokico hp (i think they were hp, they are blue) the srpings were to soft, the car rolled alot, the whiteline swaybars were sorta saving my ass.
well i was trying to keep up with everyone else on the track at the beggining which i understood it was useless cause well due to my soft suspension if i hit the gas to hard on exiting the corners, to much weight would go to the rear causing it to sorta swing like an mr2, and when i was entering the corners i couldnt press the brakes to hard or all weight would be shifted to the front and my light rear would swing on me + a great chance of the lsd locking on me causing a brake drift (which i accidentaly caused 2 and was able to recover) , that ae86 has a temper…since i never pushed it hard i guess i really didnt know its potential, it was a big trial and error, alot of understeer sometimes for braking to long trying to keep the rear stable while feeling it hopping from the lsd acting on me.
well i guess i should invest on a proper suspension for the track, been thinking on tokico 42 way adjustible coilovers with TRD springs 8kg for front and 6 kg at rear, should make the car more stable on the corners, that or i sell my ae86 and get something else.
well its my 1st car and im new to track and a nweb at tuning, just figuring things out by trying and reading.
so i figured braking earlier and longer helps, there are 2 turns on dunville that dont require braking, just letting of the gas which made me catch up to the car in front of me, hitting the gas earlier+slower helps the car stay stable, oo and i need to start trying heel and toe, the rpms didnt really fall of the power band but sometimes i felt the lag.
After reading that, for some reason all I can think of is “homeschool valedictorian”.
I was in the same boat as you. (i was the flat black rx7 fc)
I was struggling on really crap tires, and soft suspension to make things worse (kyb GR2/Tein basic spring).
The ae86 is definetly on the the list of harder cars to drive, and starting out on one is more of a challenge. The upside to this is that once you master the 86, you can drive any rear wheel car.
P.S want a 4agze drivetrain?
