mass airflow sensor question...

just wondering, im about to change my intake, but looking over the parts i received and what is in my car now, i dont see how i can hook up the sensor again to the new intake once i change it. Ive asked a few friends that know more than myself about cars if running without the sensor is a good idea, but they werent quite sure, so this is my next option, im sure someone here knows whats going on. any advice would be appreciated

Ummm unless you have standalone I am going to say KEEP YOUR MAFS.

and tell your friend to go to school

the only thing i dont know is how the sensor is connected. I just have an intake filter and adapter that will replace the air filter housing

Without the mafs, you car would probably go into limp mode or something and flood the engine.
I doubt your car would run let alone idle very well without one.

Keep the mafs connected.

that filter usually should attach to the actually MAFS

if not you might need to get the propper one.

just post there are lot of them around and they are fairly cheap.

does anyone know off hand or have any tips/tricks to getting the stock mafs working with just an intake filter? im hoping i wont have to purchase anything else

You need to purchase a maf adapter , the silicone piece provided will connect the intake ot the maf and you gonna need a maf adapter to hook up a filter .

25 $ maf adapter at pacific mall
35 $ for a cheap cone filter

that is exactly what i have now

Great write-up on how to install an intake…

awesome, thanks for the help, I’ll check that out shortly

im not buying anything else, I fab’d up my own little connection for the sensor in the intake, and reconnected the wiring

i have it a bit further up on the intake tubing, maybe an inch from where it is shown above in that picture

for the adapter… what if there’s that emission crap unit that connected to the exhaust pip to the stock air box?

where to plug and how to plug?

Removing it is illegal and its an expensive fine. I believe what you are taliking about is the EGR valve. if you remove it, it wont have a drastic effect on anything. If its the breather (from the valve cover to the intake) and you remove it, make sure you cover it with something non-flash. Removing that is also illegal.

Ministry of environment loves flashy cars & rust buckets

by law you must retain all OEM emission controls & have them modified for whatever your application is.

Fuck that, JDM cars don’t use EGR’s for the most part…but i still made it look like my EGR was there and hooked up ( i just plugged a tube leading to my IC piping) and ran a pipe down to the back of my firewall)

but thats off topic, if you remove it dont be ignorant about.
