Last two posts are very sarcastic.
I have a 600
Ive dropped multiple bikes… lol…
dropped the gsxr in the garage while it was on stands…
dropped my 1986 zx-600 while trying to learn slow turns (it stalled) i was a 90 lb rider, and couldnt hold it up.
dropped the 636 in a left hand turn, low sided
dropped the 636 on young street… attempting a 30-40 mph rolling burnout…
crashed my 2000 zx-6r in a target fixation mishap riding over my head when i was about 200 miles NEW on my first street bike…
WRECKED my 954 doing a spreader in front of my house.
(never had one fall off the kickstand that i can remember, IM ANAL about that. I’ve seen it happen a million times)
purextc is right, fix it to rideable, ie the mirror, and enjoy it till you get some more miles under your belt, its entirely possible that its going to happen again. :(… nature of the beast and being new to the hobby.
I second just replacing necessary parts. It’s probable you’ll drop your bike again, especially if your so new. Don’t worry about expensive plastics just yet.
Well thanks guys…Don’t feel as terrible.
Im sure my list will be as big as yours Willy in due time.
Hopefully not… i just tried learning everything wayyyy to quickly…
remember… baby steps.
msf, trackday, etc etc…
MSF done
Track day, I have to save up for a leather 1 piece and boots.
Maybe by the end of this season, but def next season
Hopefully not lol
Damn you will you posted before me lol
FREE TIPs…
Dont park on sand, grass, or soft ground… same concept… you’ll walk over to a bike on its side.
You figured out the down hill issue… so dont forget it
Also, when letting a passenger on the back, make sure they know not to get on prematurely… it can be a surprise, and make sure they know to lean with you.
I won’t be riding a passenger for awhile. If any at all.
And if I do, Ill get one of my girl friends who been riding for a while, that way they know what their doing.
LOL i’ve dropped my bike once. But it has been down 4 times.
Bought it without a scratch on it.
I dropped it first at a stop sign. Let it down softly. No damage at all.
I keep it garaged at my moms house for a winter cause I don’t have a garage:
My mom tried to move it to get to her flower pots.
-broken mirror
-cracked upper fairing
-cracked windscreen
-damage to handlebars and psngr pegs
A bartender at a local bar that I know well, begged me to take my bike for a ride (he has a 636 so no biggie)
He crashed it.
-Whole right side needs to be replaced. He gives me his CC and I max it out. I do all work myself and I let him slide on the small dent in my gas tank. I still have the same gas tank.
4th and final time:
My sister tried to move it to get to her winter tires
-cracked upper fairing
-dmgd clutch case
-handlebar end dmg
-broken handle on the lawnmower that broke it’s fall
I bet ericvw would be up for it… tell him it was from me please. <3
lol at Purextc… that sucks…
what do you ride again? whos in your sig btw.
2000 R1. Don’t know who’s in my sig. But that is a 2000 R1 so I threw it in the sig.
whatd you have before the r1? whos riding the wheeler in the sig?
Anymore free tips HAHA I have a feeling this will be an interesting summer.
Look where you wanna go…
Lines and tar snakes are slippery…especially when wet.
Look where you want to go. DONT FIXATE.
watch out for people turning left in front of you…
always assume people dont see you.
dont go 100 mph down the blvd… or sheridan
at the begining of the season, the roads are full of holes, debri, etc etc…
your tires take a lot of friction to get up to temp, if not up to temp, they arent going to grip well… so take it easy in the turns and allow braking room.
go to a parking lot every time you ride and practice braking… 0-40-0, 0-50-0… eventually (when its warm enough) you’ll be starting to do stoppies… being able to stop fast WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE… (im certain multiple people on here will vouch for that, cuz i preach it like its my job) *** I owe my life to KrazyKarl, as he preached it to me and its true*** he used to tell me, dont practice wheelies, cuz there will never be a situation in your life where somebody will say, a wheelie saved their life… being able to control a stoppie however can save you.

there’s a good list to start with.
oh ohhhh one more tip.
read twist of the wrist I and II, total control, and as much as you can over the winter… it can and will help.
Im not really a speeder, but Im sure that’ll change when I get more comfortable.
But yes, I need to go to a parking lot and practice stopping and slow U turns. Good call thanks man.
