So when dmoffitt was searching for a new car, I saw how desperate dealers are to make sales, and I saw how many solid 2000-2003 BMWs there were in the 8-11k range. Got me thinking. The Boxster is just a money sieve, and eventually it’s going to be too expensive for me to keep up. The e30 325is is just getting old, and the mileage was beginning to rack up (212k). Why not consolidate down to one vehicle that I can rock summer and winter, daily and track/autocross? Racing is not what I’m trying to do professionally, I just need a casual car to enjoy it in.
Worked all the numbers out and found that I’d come out very nicely on top. So I did it.
Yesterday, I drove 8.5 hours to Kalamazoo, Michigan in the e30, while Dave drove the Boxster.
Lots of Redbull later we made it to Kalamazoo where we picked up this guy Seth, who was buying the e30 from me. Drove over to DeNooyer Chevrolet and completed the sale with Seth before moving on to trading the Box in towards the new car.
I just have to say, the guys at DeNooyer Chevrolet treated me like an absolute VIP customer. I had some serious bank issues (fuck you Key Bank) that almost prevented me from getting the car at all. But Barry and Ray took care of me like I was family, and got it all straightened out. They truly bent over backwards for me, and I will never forget their top notch customer service.
So here’s my new girl, who I’ve named Edelweiss, which basically means nobel white in German. Yes, it’s also a flower, and that song. 2002 325ci, Alpine White on black. Came with the Premium Package (auto rear view mirror, power glass moonroof, wood trim and power front seats with driver memory), Sport Package (front and rear wheels (which are going away because I don’t like them), front and rear tires (which are no longer on the car), and sport seats), 5-speed, xenon headlights with auto levelling, harmon kardon stereo system, clear headlights and taillights, and painted bumper trim which I’m a big fan of.

Some pictures from today, after she had a bath… but then I drove around a lot and she just got all dirty again, lol. I’m not a photographer, nor do I claim to be one. When Dave isn’t off skiing I’ll make him take better pictures.
Overall, the car is in excellent condition, both cosmetically and mechanically. The BMW dealership where I had the PPI done said if I wasn’t buying this car, they would be seriously considering buying it from the other dealer. Taking her by my mechanic this week to have him replace any wear and tear items that are starting to show signs of aging, so that she will be super solid.
