MegaBus

Depends on how much it’s gushing. /serialkiller

I liked:

“Siegal said she believed she was uninjured because her father gave her a dollar to give to charity, a Jewish tradition that helped protect her en route.”

"All I heard was hollering and screaming, blood,"Martin said. “There was the front window.”

“I just kept hearing people hollering,” Martin said. “There was blood everywhere.”

I still think this is a cheap porn.

hahaha

Lol im still waiting to try Megabus but the deals just never seem to stack up to those of Greyhound… go figure, real class acts on that line too lol.

I have taken mega bus to NYC multiple times, its really not bad at all, def wayyy better than greyhound. If you can get the top front seats you can fully spread out (im 6 foot 210 lbs)with no issues also being able to have a couple beers en route…priceless

I still wanna do this. Hell, $30 to go somewhere like NYC each way is a hell of a deal.

Fly:
2 hours
$150

Bus:
8+ hours
$50

($150-$50)/(8 Hours - 2 Hours) = ~$17/hr “savings”

My time is worth at least 3x that.

If were talking about getting to anywhere outside of Queens/Brooklyn fly usually /= 2 Hours

Usually need to get there 1:30 before flight to be safe
1 hour flight
30 minutes to land, and clear the gate
30 minutes if youre lucky to hail cab/rent car
At least another 30 minutes to get anywhere significant.

Were talking AT LEAST 4 hours every time…

Honestly, if you are capable of sleeping on a bus, the night bus to NYC is the bees knees. Departs 12:00am , gets in by 8am and you slept through the whole thing. Plus you know its gonna be < $100 every time where as I havent been able to find a sub-$200 ticket on Jet Blue for months.

I have left work at 5pm and been on the street in NYC by 715.

Until the cost/time savings approaches 50/hr I’m not interested.

Fuck taking a bus

Jet blue has so many flights to and from NYC

Last time I took a bus it was to get from Angkor Wat to Phnom Penh in Cambodia. Somehow a discount bus to NYC sounds worse.

JFK flight is less then an hour…

JFK always has cabs waiting and if you stay anywhere decent they also have cabs waiting or you call ahead.

You can show up to Buffalo 30-40 min before the flight.

I had a 9am flight and was on site in Manhattan by noon a few weeks ago.

Also where does this bus pick you up and drop you off?

The streets as in out of the airport or the streets as in downtown? If you mean downtown then that must have been unrealistically lucky every leg of the way between hoping there was no line in security and then not hitting any traffic.

I see what youre saying, but as a shamelessly cheap person my rates much lower lol. Unless works flying me out im not shelling out over $150 to get to NYC when I know i can get there for $90 at the expense of some minor comforts. Its not that I cant afford it, I just rather spend that $60 - $150 difference on something I otherwise wouldnt do while out there.

Oh and getting back from JFK is a whole other story. Again leaving your destination in time to hope you dont get stuck in traffic, then JFK security, then usually a lot of waiting on the runway. Maybe its just the times I fly but im usually close to 4 or 5 hours every time.

Btw I just checked Jetblue round trip 129 for early/mid next month…

Haha yeah flight prices dropped like a rock on Monday. NYC to Paris Was $850 last friday and I found one from $630 this morning

The bus suuuuucks. Ive taken it to NYC. Amtrak is a better value. More comfy, shorter ride, and not much more money. Also with megabus not all of them have wifi, and when you get one that doesnt, it takes everything in your power to not throw yourself out the window. Oh and it picks you up at the bus station downtown by the M&T building. And it drops you off at different places depending on which bus schedule you take. I got dropped off at penn station last time.

I bursted out laughing

The Jet Blue terminal at JFK ROCKS. I’ve never waited for more than 3 minutes in line at security with their new setup. And I fly weekends.

The only drawback is that sometimes you get delayed on the tarmac. But my dad had a long stint where we was visiting in NC just about every or every other weekend, and he was delayed maybe 1 out of every 8 trips.

And with the shuttle train that goes up to Jamaica station, you can get anywhere in LI/NYC REALLY easily.

Bump…

They only reimburse $250. Some people lost everything they had.
