Michelle Monkey Obama?

Funny how quick the same crowd that hated Bush because he was “trampling on their Constitutional rights” wants to toss out the 1st amendment.

explain in what way anybody involved wants to throw out the 1st amendment? (make sure you understand what the 1st covers)

The Internet was abuzz Tuesday and Wednesday with reaction to the image. Some online users demanded that the photo be blocked, while others said it should remain on free speech grounds.

“There is no way to defend this heinous incident,” said a Twitter user who gave his name as Alheli Picazo of Calgary, Canada. “People often claim their right to free speech to mask blatant racism and insulting bigotry and always seem to get away with it,” he told CNN via e-mail. “When it comes to issues of discrimination, hiding behind free speech just doesn’t cut it.”

^ Shut up you stupid Canuck.

“Instead of Google deleting the photo, there should be a campaign against the person who posted the photo,” she said by e-mail. “Make a publicized attack noting the outrage of displaying such an offensive photo. This way, the person who posted it would feel the public outcry to pull the photo.”

Is it that hard to understand?

how does people wanting a private company like google to block racially charged images involve the 1st amendment?

I think google should treat it like porn and have a filter that defaults racist content to off but allows it on. either way, it’s google’s call.

it would only become a 1st amendment issue if people wanted to prohibit the creation of this image being posted on a private website even though the creator owned the website and wanted it up. nobody wanted that.

:picard: It’s no use even trying to talk to you.

you’re putting words into people’s mouths… people are outraged that it’s on google’s results, not that somebody is allowed to make the image and host it on their site.

Really? Can you even read or is the blue tint that you see everything through so dark that you’re now legally blind? Re-read what I quoted.

yes, users demand that it be blocked FROM GOOGLE’S RESULTS

inon1

ugh…

True… But when you are looking for facts on something, would you want people to filter out things that might offend you?

It should not be Google’s job to filter poor taste…

Oh no… look what was on the 1st page of a moderatly filtered google image search for George Bush

was just about to post this exact same thing.

Where’s the outrage?

google’s job it to keep its customers happy and coming back so that they can sell advertising and maintain market share…

and calling a white man a monkey is a little different than a black woman, or maybe you’re not familiar with history.

there is not 1st amendment issue here - I’m still waiting for where the violation is?

Hmmmm…

He’s not black, so its ok to make fun of him. You can only scream racism if you’re a minority, or at least that’s what Jesse Jackson told me.

In my mind theres no difference. Both have the same intent, it shouldnt matter if the person is black or white…

no they don’t… when you show a white person as a monkey you are saying he is stupid, when you show a black person as a monkey, you’re saying black people are genetically inferior.

Maybe if we had skipped that whole slavery thing it would be even, but we didn’t.

SHOULDN’T being the key word… but in our fucked up society it dies matter… similar to the same reason the 3 “kids” in buffalo aren’t being charged with a “hate” crime… but if the colors would be reversed you bet your ass it would be a hate crime…

I just lol’d

I can understand your argument and where your coming from… but, understand it from my point of view as well in that there is still no difference. Maybe in the mind of one who is racist, which is unfortunately how the entire society will view this for the most part. In todays day and age you can compare a “black” man to just about anything and it will be considered “racist” in some peoples minds. Now, if we take into consideration the intentions of the person that is exhibiting the comparison, then based off that one can determine if it is racist or not.
