Microsoft Outllook with Android Phone

Over here at the new job we utilize Microsoft Outlook 2007 (I believe) for our scheduling and email. Most everyone here has their smartphones linked and updating with the company server so when additions are made to their schedule it updates on their phones. Email as well, I just can’t seem to set up that account either. I can’t seem to get my Droid Razr to link to the Outlook program. As most of you I am technologically handicapped and was wondering if anyone has a link to a tutorial or video that might help me out. Most people here are on iPhones and the couple guys who are on Android are almost impossible to get ahold of. Thanks in advance.

You need to the settings for their exchange server

Android has a setup wizard for email it will say something like Microsoft Exchange account it will do its best at figuring out the server settings…If its unable to you will need to ask IT or someone for the exchange server address.

Thanks. I’ll give it a shot.

If it can’t figure out the server name try mail.kazbrothers.net

Here is a link with pics - http://support.verizonwireless.com/support/devices/knowledge_base.html/26594/

Also the Razr may not support the version of activesync that Kaz is running. Outlook version is irrelevant.

Well that certainly isn’t good news to hear. I sure as hell hope that’s not true. If it is, I’m gonna need another phone. No way I can work there without this sync. function. Would a Verizon phone outlet know if this is true?

If will take all of 5min to set it up and see if it works…

Holy crap. I think I got it to work. Thanks LZ for the tutorial screen. I think I chose chose the wrong whoozamawhatzis the previous times I tried to set it up. Thanks again!

typically you point it at your webmail address as the “server name”. So usually it’s something like, owa.company.com

Well, the desktop us updating my calendar on the phone but not vice versa. This is important because I schedule some of my own appointments and the office girls set up some as well and I want to avoid conflicts and overlaps. Is it something I need to set up on my phone back to the desktop?

You guys don’t have a IT person?

Your phone will still have 2 calendars there is a chance your creating events on the local calendar and not the synced exchange/outlook one.

Are the events/meetings you create the same color as the ones created by people in your office for you?

When you schedule the appointment, make sure you’re selecting the exchange account calendar, and not “My Calendar” or your gmail calendar.

I’m assuming it’s outsourced and probably one of those call them and “they’ll get around to it” type places.

OK. Managed to get my phone to update the desktop. I think I had the wrong calendar selected on my phone. The appointment colors all show up red on my phone, not that it’s a huge deal but would be nice to have the colors match the desktop. I think the “computer guy” comes in once every week or two. Looks like I’ll be doing most of my own IT work here…with your help of course.
