Haslett was the only coach ever to get a playoff win with the Saints, or thats what I heard on the radio. Also heard his wife is from here and some other stuff. I think he would fit great here, better than Mularkey
jim played for buffalo and knows levy and wilson… he is a great coach but has never ahd a team to work with… i think he would do much better here
We need a coach who can: A) develop a quarterback. B) reestablish the once great defense we had. C) Somehow spark McGahee
Haslett’s Answers:
A) He’s had a pretty decent quaterback in Aaron Brooks pretty much since he made his first start. He never developed Aaron into much of anything. He never took advantage of his strengths. I think Aaron would be a better player w/ some better lineman…but still.
B) I heard the Saints always had a great D while haslett was around?!?! :smash2:
C) The Saints running game has always been great too… yank…
edt: I would rather have him than Mularkey. But I think we can do better…
FWIW I didnt know anything about this haslett guy, but a quick lookup on ESPN revealed a whole shitload of seasons that looked similar to our most recent.
peace mularkey, ya just werent shit
i hope whoever the bills hire next is committed to success, the bills cant afford to blow this now, the team needs to go in a new direction and become winners again
:word:
The only AFC team to not make the playoffs in the last 5-6 years besides the Houston Texans…pitiful.
What the Bills need is for cheap ass Ralph Wilson to stop being a cheap ass and spend the money necessary to hire a decent coach that has EXPERIENCE.
Haslet? :meh:
Sherman? :meh:
Cottrel?
All of them could succeed, but none of them will unless Marv goes out and gets:
2 quality starting OL
at least one decent DT to line up next to Adams (remember how Adams played when Pat Williams was still here?)
one more DT/DE to add to “rotation”
one LB to add to “rotation” in case what happened this year happens again.
I will agree with Rick on the OL, I think Adams is past his prime no matter who he plays along side. I think the DT/DE is solid with Schobel, Denney, Posey as a dual function and the LB is solid with Crowell and Posey again, I think Fletcher might be a little dated but he is a strong leader.
But I just hope this retro committed to success thing works, Marv was a great coach, but GM for todays fast paced mobile QB game, I dunno. We will see
1/3/93 Philadelphia 36, New Orleans 20 NFC Wild Card
12/28/91 Atlanta 27, New Orleans 20 NFC Wild Card
1/6/90 Chicago 16, New Orleans 6 NFC Wild Card
1/3/88 Minnesota 44, New Orleans 10 NFC Wild Card
those were all jim mora i believe
:word:
JIM HASLETT? DIDDELY POO!
I agree w/ the Bills desperatley needing O-Lineman.
All those other players… The salary cap kind of keeps that from happening. The defense core is strong, with good veterans and athletic younger players.
Ralph Wilson Jr. hasn’t done much in the hiring/firing dept., until lately. Donahoe hired Mularkey. So, Donahoe is the cheap ass. He “balanced” the budget the last 5 years.
Edit: i just reread my post… When i read it, it sounded like i was being a dick. NOT TRYING TO BE!
Edit2: Jim Mora is the shit…lol
I’ll take Shermin over Haslett. GB never had a bad season with him before this one, where they got ripped to pieces with injuries and turnovers. Id take Marv of Shermin too though, but doesnt look like that is the plan
well, as far as the whole marv keeping up with fast paced quarterback/offenses, the only team ive ever saw run the hurry up offense better than Indi was buffalo. Granted kelly was probably more the master mind calling his own plays but marv was there the whole time. I think our defense is good and would look better with another defensive trackle. Fletcher is by far the Bills MVP at this point imho. It would be nice to see TKO back but with his injuries i wonder if he would ever be 100percent again.
opps i meant, he is the only coach to ever give new orleans a playoff win
it will be interesting to see what happens with some of the veterans now that mularky is gone. sam adams has said he wants to stay and that him and his family like the area, now that mularky is gone he might play harder for a new coach. eric moulds might also re-structure his contract and want to stay. apparently there was a good percentage of the bills locker room that had totally lost all faith in mularky as a coach
what i think will be really interesting is what will happen to our QB situation when a new coach comes in
good riddence to murlarky - but a new head coach isn’t even close to solving the bills’ issues. I don’t think clements is staying, i know spikes won’t be the same, mike williams sucks at either left or right, JP = BJ, and Moulds is gone too.
its gonna be at least 2 years before the bills are competitive again. at least we have a fairly easy schedule next year.
mularkey is a joke
