Mikes 89 honda prelude, project "skylude"

no sarcasm, i honestly want to see you turn that into something

I really don’t know what to say, because I was just a Millers town pick a’ part and there were 10-15 hondas there that require less body work, so I’ll just repeat what I said in the other thread.

“Really?
you must like really like to take things out on yourself, jk. good luck you’ll need it.
Remember take as many before and after pics as possible.”

I have no idea how this is going to turn out, It would be interesting to see if you can save this car. I know bodywork is an artform, and some people really have tallent…This is one hell of a way to prove it to yourself.

Any Power mods on your list?

keep the pics coming, if you can turn that into something halfway decent then i will be impressed.

mmm, volcano tacos

i’ll cash in on those volcano tacos. Don’t worry.

power mods are going to be basic at first, just intake, header, exhaust, simple stuff, i gota get it shaped up the right way first. And see how it runs, what else it is going to need, good solid tune up, and just kinda go from there.

Not that I like the car but I always like seeing someone make something out of nothing. So looks like your on the right track good luck.

i’m going to be honest with you here, ditch the 15 gallons of bondo and go buy 1/4 panel replacements from strawpump autobody panels in youngwood. you are wasting such a huge amount of time because if even you got those 1/4’s back into a somewhat good looking state the rust WILL be back within a matter of months. same goes for the fenders and everything else. the car is a lost cause in my eyes but if you’re gonna do it atleast do it with some sense. i mean more power to you and all but don’t fuck yourself over it.

Get it looking presentable (ahem…) and then then sell it to a wanna-be ricer for a profit when the next Fast and Furious movie comes out lol.

Could someone tell the threadstarter that if he’s going to build a hideous car that will make everyone in the tri-state area giggle when they see it, at least make it one that didn’t go out of style about 4 years ago.

Thanks

^^THIS. Those quarters are awful…which means the rockers are trashed, the underside is trashed…etc. Who the fuck welds some new fabbed panels onto pieces that are that badly rotted, anyway? You do realize that the chassis itself is a mere shadow of what it was previously right? The way you are proceeding now is NEVER going to save anything…all that rot will be back in no time.

good luck man !!!looks like a shit load of work

On the bright side, those gallons of bondo are only adding more weight to the car which equals more $$$ at the scrapyard. :bigthumb:

oh my fucking god my eyes!!!

looks more like a challenge to get the body solid other then making it look like a respectable car…

dont get my wrong, it’ll always look retarded. but is something good to practice your body work on. If you make this thing anywhere near a 1/4 decent I will be very surprised

First of all, even though there is a good chance there is ALOT more than meets the eye in rust, you are just speculating. It’s a late 80’s early 90’s honda, my old turbo civic had rusted out 1/4’s when i first got it, i welded new 1/4’s into it and 4 years later guess what? no rust yet. Also look under the same car, surface rust on bolts and suspension components as usual but it’s FAR from rotted out. Let me ask you now, who the FUCK dumps gallon of bondo onto ANYTHING. Ask ANY real body guy putty is a LAST resort in body work. Honestly i’m getting quite annoyed with your retorts assuming i’m some kind of fucking moron, maybe you ought to stick to autocross, the minor leagues of racing.

(I think dyingwish was agreeing with ya, not arguing)

By the way, to the OP, those weren’t tears of sadness you saw in the previous owner’s eyes when you hauled this thing off.

I would be embarrassed to be the driver of the tow truck that got this job.

Listen douche…I’ve been under a shitload of Honda’s and they RARELY have nothing underneath rotted, especially late 80’s cars (barring those from the south that is…) Since I haven’t seen underneath that mess, of course it’s speculating, and so are you. I was in agreement with you retard.

Aside from that, what does what I do with my car have anything to do with my replies? I don’t just autox, I road race as well…and have more years with hondas then you’ve had a license. Sit down, shut the fuck up.

You think you’ve been under a shitload of hondas? You obviously don’t know who i am. I didn’t take “who the fuck welds new panels onto pieces that badly rotted” as “agreeing” with me considering i said to weld new panels, not spread bondo all over the place. I think it’s a unanimous decision that the car should be crushed and used for nothing more than experimental fabrication as practice. And while your car has nothing to do with the topic, i’ve found that the majority of guys that autocross are just cocky fucks as i took you to be. Road racing is cool, i’d like to get into that someday, but until then i’m just a roll racin hardparker and i couldn’t care less. And FYI, i am sitting down. who the hell stands at a computer?:beer:

I think he was disgracing the current state of the vehicle and not cutting down the “advice” that you were giving.

I’m gonna have to go with dyingwish being true his word. I don’t know him personally, but he seems like a pretty knowledgable guy and has a pretty good rep here. The only thing I’ve really seen of you is shooting your mouth off if you read someone’s comments the wrong way.

That car is a hunk of shit right now, should not have had panels welded onto existing rust, and probably has more rust underneath. I don’t own, nor have I owned a Honda and I know this.
