this build is sick!!!keep up the good work
keep up the good work, this build is looking great!
Thanks. This build is a little bit funny the things I am planning and researching are a year or two down the pipeline yet the mods that are currently underway are way behind schedule and should have been done this past winter.
The current hold up is my ultimate daily driver build. It should be a stock STI engine on E85 with a built ppg wrx transmission, STI hubs, brakes, Version 6 interior in my red RS here.
and since I regret not having any real update I’ll leak a picture of something to be fully unveiled later. For those of you intelligent enough to figure out whats going on… keep a lid on it, I’ll discuss the details later at some point.
This thread has only twice the views of my for sale thread for my illegal impreza that’s been up for only one day.
Awesome.
Such an in depth meticulous awseome build…Cant say ive seen any honda done more right than this on this forum. love the top fog delete… soo much cleaner! keep it up man!
Thanks. I really need to get moving on this and bite the bullet on buying the last bunch of parts needed so fab work can start.
I like the fog-delete too, it was surprisingly easy. Just a few layers of fiberglass over the hole with some tape backing it to prevent it from falling through, sand it down, fill with bondo, then 5-6 layers on top. This gets me close enough that all I needed was glazing to smooth it out and get rid of pin holes, then I just sanded the back with some 50 grit to remove the unneeded bondo which is essentially on the backside of the hole.
So this:
will be removed by sanding after the last layers of fiberglass is laid.
on the other front, I finally started mocking up the rear flares, but I haven’t drilled the holes until I get the pass side cleaned up a bit from my poor attempt at welding. Once its clean and done right, then I can mock up both sides to make sure they are identical, drill the holes, mount the nutserts, and it’ll be ready for the turbo kit to be back on and tuned.
The best build thread next to newmans… A++ to you sir
Thanks.
Some more bumper progress:
how wide are your wheels? looks awesome with the fender flares too.
did u modify your steering or does the del sol have that much angle from the factory?
wheels are 17x10 +18. The sol does have a ton of steering angle but that picture was taken when I was just checking wheel clearance with the tie rods unbolted.
ahhh ic. very nice wheel fittment. and very nice car.
thanks.
Just about done with the body work for the bumper:
glazing to fill in pinholes:
still needs a little bit more sanding, primer, sanding, then finally can hit it up with the black and get the new lip for it.
looks wayyyyy better wit the holes filled up
It’ll look fantastic with paint and the lip.
what kind of lip are u putting on there?
same as the one I had pictured there but in carbon for the street bumper. Track bumper will have the ABS lip/splitter with full FRP undertray that I’m making soon.
Its a lip that I’ve modified from another vehicle and I haven’t shared with anyone what it is yet despite how many sol owners have asked. lol
wow this makes me miss my old del sol
just layed down a bit of primer on the bumper to check over the body work.
Still need to clean up the edges a bit and cut the bottom for IC clearance. then I can sand it one last time and lay down the color.
thing looks mean , cant wait for more progress , i know all that bumper work ant fun , but pays off in the end
