Mitsubishi Dealers in Buffalo

Has anyone had any warranty repair experiences with any of the mitsu dealerships around Buffalo? My starter died on me yesterday, and i’m still covered under the 50,000 mile warranty, however, my car has a few mods and i don’t want my warranty voided. I’ve read a lot of horror stories regarding this on EvoM so i figured i’d see if anyone knew if any of the local dealerships were worth it.

defin 50k warranty is it bumper to bumper or powertrain? powertrain there is no coverage anyways.By law they have to prove that the modifications you performed caused the non warrantable item.

but if there is mods on the car. they will void the part of warrenty affected by the mods even if they replace his starter now. they make a note in the computer.

what mods do you have?

exhaust and cams for the most part. Some dealers are more lenient about this than others, so i was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this before i go buy a new starter and lay in the snow putting it in after work.

put the stock exhaust on.

I had my evo in for service many times. Only the first time did I ever remove the mods (dan georger-now tranistown mitsu) because the told me I had to in order to find my ACD problem.

The second time my ACD went they didnt say a thing…

Also took my car into Ray Laks with no issues either… they did a better job re-bleeding the ACD and I had no issues with it after that ever agian.

Its your call, but the starter shouldnt be an issue. I also think its all in how you act at the dealer and to the guys there too, be professional.

That’s exactly what I was looking for, thanks. Did you have the cams in when you brought it to Ray Laks?

Cams and Exhaust should not effect the starter, so as long as you act professionally and aren’t an idiot about it, they should take care of it no problem.

I called ray laks’ service dept. a couple times about some evo’s I was looking to buy, to check warranty coverage and if it was voided due to mod’s, ect.

For what it’s worth, they SAID they wouldn’t void, or deny warranty claims based on mods.

Cool, I’ll give Ray Laks a call today.

i went to ray laks a few times for a few things and the guys were super cool there
everyone always talked about horror stories but i never had a problem there
i asked the guy there about warranty and he said aslong as mods aren’t the reason for the problem they will fix it.
one guy even told me that they will fix whatever no matter what… but he got fired for some reason… :frowning:

if your car lopes because of the cams, good luck. as long as they are tuned properly, u should be fine if u put the stock exhaust back on.

the dealership will probably make up some bullshit like “oh u probably hit the starter putting the aftermarket exhaust on” or some BS along those lines

Also keep in mind that ray laks is a new mitsu dealer… they may be looking to steal some business away from georger and get some good csr scores going. Just a thought.

Just an update for anyone in my situation. I had the car towed to ray laks as it sat since it was stuck in a city lot and they fixed everything under warranty no questions asked. Thanks for the info.
