Now that ive got turbo(s) lined up, its time to get rid of the strut tower rust…
While the car is down and the engine is out, is there anyone on here that feels like doing it, and how much? The garage (barn…lol) im working in has plenty of 120 outlets, but no 220 for what thats worth…
This is about the only picture i have of it (and its taken from a video…) but right now the engines out, the power steering is unbolted and moved, suspension is dropped, and all plastics are gone so there is nothing in the way from the top and bottom.
The passenger side looks to be ok as well, there is one spot that i might have redone, but its not rusted through.
It would have to be made…but im not worried about it looking oem, as long as it will hold!
and yeah, lol its a LOT of rust/big hole, but it doesnt have the typical rear end rust in the rear wheel wells, so i figure i might as well just try and get it fixed.
so it just needs to be a mirror image of the other side…bend up a patch panel from sheetmetal and weld it in. i can do it for 100 bucks if you want. im in pendleton, wont be able to get to it until after sunday though. already have prior commitments so im booked up all week. if you need to see any of my work just search for my project threads on here to see some of it.
right, thats all it is, mirror image of the passenger side. I also didnt think about it, but i have another shell outside that you could use as a template since the driver side tower whie rusted, the shape is there.
the hole as you see it is pretty much as big as its gona be, i pounded and cut most of the rusted metal out already. The fender will also be off since i have to pound a dent out of that too. That timeframe is perfect for me anyways, im working straight through sunday, and have monday/tuesday off. Just shoot me a pm when you think you can get to it and we’ll go from there!
