The Funny Pics and GIFs thread seems like a good place for it.

I’d say stay out of the Random Picture Thread unless the picture has some photographic value.

It would definitely be entertaining to just be able to slam stuff up right from your phone into a thread. I haven’t been able to U/L anything to the site in 2 years, because my quota has been filled forever.

No ‘apps’ for vB right now.

If you have a phone with a full internet browser (or even a mild / limited one) that can at least view the ‘mobile skin’ version of NYSpeed, all you need to do is click the attachments button on the tool bar that’s on top of the text box after you click ‘post reply.’

So in short,

  1. Start “the mobile upload thread” in OT.
  2. Use the ‘post reply’ button to upload images right from your phone to NYSpeed
  3. Those images are attached to your post.

I’ve used this a ton of times from my phone if I don’t feel like actually FTP-ing an image. But I think most people use the ‘quick reply’ box so they forget that vB has this functionality.

Also, the mobile uploads thread shouldn’t be something you have to search for, but it SHOULD come up w/ the new posts.

I’ll have to look at that. Forgot that there is an upload quota… but it’s there for good reason, lol.

Just make sure for a mobile upload thread that the images you’re uploading are small so that you don’t hit that quota or make it so large that it takes your phone 5 minutes to upload.

I always MMS (multimedia message) friends with the absolute smallest images my phone can capture just because it’s usually enough to get the point across and doesn’t take very long.

Any new or updated post in OT pops up in the ‘new posts’ section just fine.

Yeah, but if you’re mobile and want to throw up a pic, it sucks browsing to nyspeed, then searching for the thread, then uploading, etc etc.

I can put a mobile pic on FB in 20 seconds.

Bookmark the thread in your mobile browser? Or better yet, bookmark the ‘post reply’ page for the pic thread. Bam, no browsing required.

This version of vB doesn’t offer anything like FB. We might have that functionality in the next, and we’ll definitely look into it.

that was some easy research… The developer just released a version that is compatible with 4.0… I will work on this as a NOW feature, and will include it in my notes for working on the upgrade.

Newman, like Onyx said, just bookmark it, Im always bookmarking crap on my phone, cause its a pain in the ass to get to.
