Modding Cars and Passing Inspection

.

the usually don’t legitamately pass them.

they usually know someone.

especially with a code reader being hooked up, i would imagine it’s very hard, to do any sort of chipping, or tuning.

that is why i love my 95 OBD1

I had mine pass no problem (02 WRX). It’s finding a piggy back style engine managment that works with the vehicle’s ECU (like the TurboXS UTEC). Other than that, it depends on how strict the place is on visual inspections.

with an obd2 turbo honda:
swap back stock injectors and ecu.
open wastegate, and limp it to an inspection place where you know someone.

Chipping and tuning don’t matter as long as you don’t throw any codes.
The electronic portion of the inspection only checks for cel codes.
Hypothetically you could have an O2 simulator and not throw any codes.:snky:
Like I said, hypothetically.:stuck_out_tongue:

FTW

02 SIMS ONLY WORK FOR DSTREAM

Or better yet my powertunner turns off codes right in the pcm.

yes hypothetically of course :snky:…

Knowing the inspector…
Knowing what the PCM is looking for, and knowing how to make it think that piece of hardware/electronics still exists on the car.

Having a BSME with a EE minor is a great thing…

worked on my vett

you guys didnt notice that he said 96+ hondas that are boosted.

this (if done properly) means converting to OBD1. unless you’re using an AFC hack :cough:garbage:cough:

yeah thats what I was interested in most
More of a hypothetical question

i  my OBDI

yes exactly what i plan on doing ill probably take off charge pipe too though just to be safe

pre obd ftw

For 96-99 DSMs, get a Eprom ECU out of a '95, buy DSMLink, and use the pocket software version to change all ready monitors to OK! Good bye to emissions equipment too!!
