edit, check out the pix in my cardomain link in my sig
price dropped, make an offer, will be sold soon
hey guys, just helping a friend out selling his ride, its a black on grey z24 cavalier, 2.4L and pretty damn fast! its has 260xxx km’s on it, but in good shape, interior is clean, body is clean, no accidents from what i am told.
i have to replace the altenator, if someone wants to take it as is the price is a little more flexible. car may be ready to go in a couple days, btu if someone is serious, i can take a deposit on the ride. call or email me for more details, pix not available yet, # in my sig
i would imagine its highway, my buddy owned it for 6 months and put about 20000 KM (mainly highway). car is in excellent shape, i’d say the cavalier is probably the best car in chevy’s line up (excluding vet of course). they are pretty reliable, and this one has some sorta special tranny and the 2.4L ecotec motor (rumours say its a honda motor, anyone care to enlighten?).
car is tight, suspension, brakes and motor seem to be in excellent shape.
pix can be seen in the link in my sig (did i say that already?)
If it has the ecotec then its not a 2.4 the ecotec only came 2.4 in 2005 in the hhr’s and colbalt ss (not supercharged one) so it would had a 2.4L twin cam - and ecotec isnt honda, if you have recipts for the car and its been kept up on maintanece then they are very good cars to drive
the vue redline…ie the 3.5L ecotech motor is a HONDA motor, Gm traded OnStar technologies to Honda for motors, this is a comonly known fact in the industry. I do not know about the other Ecotech motors.

the only ecotec motor available in the vue was the base 2.2. the 3.0 and the 3.5 are honda motors, not vtec, not ecotec, just a 3.0 and a 3.5 V6.
$2000 for a 01 z24 sounds amazing. if it was maintained properly it shouldnt have many problems. i’m interested, expect a pm shortly
the engines in the redline are honda engines. however the other regular 2.2 ecotecs were designed by another japanese company, i cant remember who but for somereason i think its toyota
The Ecotec Family II is a modern chain-driven DOHC 4-valve design with an aluminum block and head (L850), designed for displacements from 1.8 to 2.4 L. It was developed by an international team of engineers and technicians from Opel’s International Technical Development Center in Rüsselsheim, Germany, GM Powertrain in Pontiac, Michigan, and Saab in Trollhättan, Sweden.
“Ecotec” was originally used by opel believe it or not. its quite the remarkable engine too, can handle boost pretty well
i believe opel is GM in europe, or another subdivision, like chevy, pontiac, ect.
again, i’m not too familiar with this vehicle, just helping out a friend.
someone was supposed to check it today, but our schedules were conflicting, i had some family matters i had to attend, but i am free during the week, just gimme some notice if u do deciede to come check out the ride.
it seems to be well maintained and drives really well, if i didn’t bring my s14 out for the summer, or if it was winter, this car would not be for sale, i’d use it for my city beater (haha, the newest car i’ve ever owned is my beater)
hope everyone had a great weekend, feel free to call me anytime, take care all!!!
hey guys, car is in the buy and sell for $3600, but i will honour my price 2 you guys, call if interested, been sick as a dog so call my roomate if you would like to see the car

Not that it actually matters, but Honda bought the Canton (I think) Ohio Engine Plant from General Motors, cheap. GM used to produce its V6 Engines. As part of the deal, Honda now has to produce a certain number of complete engines (such as the TL’s 3.5) for General Motors in return.
But anyways Cavies are good solid american cars, nothing special but everyone needs to own a J-Body sometime in their life.
ok cleaned the car yesturday, and realised there is a bad seal in one of the rear tires. i tried pumping the tire up, but u can hear the air leaking right from the rim weight, so i believe it is a bad seal on the tire, especially considering it just popped up after the car sat in my garage for a couple weeks. if it makes or breaks the sale, i have a few tires kicking around and can toss one in just in case.
current offer of $2500, and after washing the car, i am really second guessing that price, the car is worth way more. no accidents, AC works, zero rust, prefect interior aside from being a little dirty, tinted windows, keyless entry. i have 4 cars on my driveway and none of them have these luxuries.
over 1000+ views for a car that is less than half its wholesale value and i still have it? if it isn’t sodl soon, i am gonna trade it for an RB motor. Not sure when the guy is gonna come through with the cash, first come first serve. i have had alot of people flake on me, but its been partially my fault cause i have been hard to contact the past couple weeks.
anyway, peep my poll, maybe i gotta jack up the price to $5500 to sell it???
Hi my roomate is the one contacting you about the car. But your schedule was conflicted. About the price i actually think its not cheap. If you search around the same model (from 99) with less mileage (200k ) is selling for ~$2000. Its the nature of the beast to be depreciated that fast.
Thro search you will see the engine isnt very reliable either. From Jbody forums, most ppl has to rebuild their engine or tranny at around 160k-200k. But in your case i think its because mostly highway driven. But i suspect it will need rebuild very soon. The waterpump was also a defect of this car. Waterpump needs to be replaced around 130k. Other minor problems is the CV joints and brakes. The car is really fun to drive tho.
You can check around at J-body forum or Jbody ontario club.
I really doubt your price is that low. You will see the depreciation of that car due to high mileage is quite stunning. They’re not reliable as Jap cars.
ps if you just said you’ve got 264k out of it, ppl will say … “wow” what other works have you done? Certainly they’re surprised that you havent rebuilt the engine
