Or EVERYONE would have been dead. The last thing I want is a confused, scared, tear gassed crowd firing off rounds in a confined area.
To be clear…I’m against further gun regulation and think we have TOO MUCH regulation already! I’m just saying this isn’t one of the examples I’d champion for pro gun rights as an advocate.
a ccw holder could have saved lives, its tough to argue that
if you want to sit back and watch innocent people die, fine with me, but i feel differently
Think of all the victims. Think of how horrible this is for them.
Not only will going to a movie theatre be an absolute chore for the near future, but they are going to have PTSD while watching the most highly anticipated summer blockbuster in the past 10 years.

I’m still not over the fact that a 3 month old and a 6 year old were in that theatre. Ugh.

Your in a dark movie theater. Carry a flashlight, CCW has so much liability behind it. It not illegal to blind someone with a flash light, and once your night eyes set it its going to be 5x worse.
200 lumens would disorent someone, my 600 lumen with take your vision out during the day.
EDIT: If more than 50% of the people there where armed, would he have done it?
AKA - would this have went down in texas?
The same people talking about more security or not letting people dress up at movies in the future are probably the same anti-gun idiots who’s logic simply doesn’t add up… The shooter kicked in an emergency exit, dropped his tear gas and immediately started firing. How would more security or preventing all the people who went through the ticketing lines from wearing costumes have prevented this? Exactly, it wouldn’t have, no more than gun laws stop criminals from committing gun crimes.
EDIT:
As for concealed carry helping… who knows. If it was someone in the front row maybe. Short of that if you’re 15 rows back in a dark theater with tear gas going off and mass panic your chances of making that shot without hitting an innocent person are pretty slim. I know if I was there and carrying I’d be more concerned with finding cover and an exit than trying to get a shot off and potentially drawing much more fire in my direction.
Check this out… like a real life Final Destination:
People knowing that people carry guns in texas is why this comment has come up a lot about this. If there was a guy that walked in and threw tear gas and fired a round into the ceiling as the report said, let people open fire. if people get hit in the cross fire it still is a lot less than the 60+ people that are wounded and or dead from this one guy.
It has, on a military base no less.
“November 5, 2009 – Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, 39, allegedly kills 13 people and injures 32 at Fort Hood, Texas, during a shooting rampage. He is charged with 13 counts of pre-meditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder, and is awaiting trial.”
Your argument that an individual hell-bent on destruction is going to reconsider his actions if there is a risk of being shot is absurd and completely illogical. The criminal already knows how it is going to end, he merely does not give a fuck.
Uh I assume you have never been on a military base? Everyone isn’t carrying weapons this isn’t overseas
uhh,but they were carrying weapons and exchanged fire with him.Bigairskier has it right, someone a few cans short of a six pack just doesn’t care.
I recognize that part, but it addresses that mass murderers don’t care what happens to them. They know the outcome will be either suicide, suicide by cop, death by shooting, execution, or lifelong imprisonment. The threat of being shot has no deterrent and frankly, won’t stop them from willfully going down in a blaze of their own misguided glory after lighting the fuck out of a public place with an automatic weapon. Joe Blow with his pistol strapped to his hip is not going to deter a lunatic.
I agree…
Same thing with banning guns nothing would stop someone from using a pipe bomb, etc on a movie theater.
Agreed wholeheartedly. Strict gun laws, lax gun laws, armed citizens, unarmed citizens; this guy was determined to take people out and he would have followed through in some form regardless.
^ The shooter
^^^ Easy to say now, but just looks like a whack job lol.
Yeah this has been my biggest fear lately. Terrorists must be really dead-set with their attacks on public transportation model because they could take out just as many people in a movie theater or a stadium, in a much more affordable, feasible, and low risk way. How hard would it be to orchestrate this attack at dozens of theaters across the country at the same time???
We really neglect how vulnerable we are, armed or not.

And omg someone please tell me they see the resemblance
Andrew Luck… anyone… anyone?
I heard they asked him why he did it and he said he was the Joker.
WTH
Dont the back doors / exits sound an alarm when opened?
If they dont, they will now
And what good will that do? The guy walked in, dropped a tear gas grenade and started shooting. You think a little door buzzer would have made a big difference? The usher would have told him “excuse me sir, you can’t use that door” and he would have just gone back to his car?
How do you enter an emergency exit they buzz when propped and by design they don’t open from the outside with out a key.
accomplice
Planning.

I’ve spent 6 hours on Wiki reading up on spree killers. LOL.
From what I understand he bought his ticket (1st in line?) and went straight to the door. then walked to his car and suited up, then came back.
If they buzzed, when he first opened the door before going to the car, the alarm would have gone off and stayed on during the entire time. At that time people would have said WTF is going on. I myself probably would have walked over and shut the door. Hopefully it wouldnt be right around when the guy is lock and loaded grabbing the handle to come back in.
None the less I feel it would have been a different situation.
I cant imagine he had a helper open the door for him…but people suck so who knows
