Must be nice to be the CEO of Exxon

Former Exxon CEO, $52 million 2005 pay package, $98.4 million lump sum retirement payout. Sickening. Here’s the article:

:owned: by jealousy

who fucking cares how much he makes, good for him. That’s the american dream.

no way…u ever sit down and do the math???

2 million a year is absolutely way more than “the american dream” could possibly spend…52 million in a year and almost 100 for retirement…only defined by greed and not giving a fuck about anyone else in the country

all of us would take the 52 million a year and say “fuck you” to everyone else if given the chance. The owner of Exxon probably works his ass off and has thousands of peoples jobs/lives at his command. His pay is fine with me.

If some baseball player can make this type of money, someone who actually does something for a living should surely be able to make this much.

This hurts, but I have to agree with you

wowzers
that must be nice.
i guess that means there is an opening.
i guess ill post my resume on monster.com

I can see your point but I dont agree. I know everyone would be happy with a 52 mil a year sal, but look how he “earned” it. By ripping off a ton of people. There is not a doubt in my mind that there is so much shadyness involved in the fuel market it is sick. Now if he ran the company in an honest fashion by trying to make profit while still being “fair” to the consumer then so be it. But it makes me sick that someone can be that rich from flat out ripping off everyone. About the baseball player comment, they play a sport that generates a ton of revenue and are due a ton of money. If they would not see that much money some other idiot would be a hell alot richer from their accomplishments. I am not saying that they “earn” but it is due to them and totaly different than from some greedy peopel who get rich at our expense. Just my $.02 take it for what it is worth

:blah: :blah: :blah:

Ya you wont be saying that when you pay $40+ to fill up

Look at what the CEOs at Pepsi and other companies make. Should Pepsi be cheaper too?

With that being said, I think you could replace the majority of CEOs with someone making much much less money and still have the same profitability and quality of product in the company.

Gas prices are unreasonable. Bottom line. I bet he doesn’t do shit. He has people below him doing all the work while he sits on a golf course. Gas companies are ripping off america left and right.

Im already there. $48/tank nga! (premium) :bsrant:

ya. but the car only runs a few days out of a month so that tank lasts you a long time.

Thats what I ment, I am in the same boat, my gtp and my ws6 run on prem, and my g/f’s car runs on prem as well. Point is these jagoffs are getting rich at our expense. meaning gas is something we all need and they are taking advantage of it. So F&ck all those a$$holes, while they get huge salaries while making us stress over paying to fill up our tanks.

gas prices own me more than anyone on this board so:finger:

water is still more expensive than gas. not to mention the pepsi mentioned above. if our cars ran on pepsi and we drank gas people would be complaning the CEO was shady.

f this thread most CEO’s of large companies make that much. i hear those figures are close to what the president of FUJIMED makes too - F HIM HE’S SHADY FOR MAKING TONS OF MONEY

I just researched exxon oil and their profits are up 42% from 2004…man i wonder why.

My point of starting this thread was not just because gas prices are going up, but merely to point out the insanity of what a lot of CEO’s are making. Honestly I’m amazed at the number of people on here that don’t think it is rather outrageous that people are paid that much. Does anyone honestly think these guys do anything that deserves that kind of pay, especially when your company is profiting in a rather controlversial manner such as Exxon.

And where the hell you buying water? If you buy bottled by the gallon gas is still much more expensive. 2 liter bottles of pepsi can be had for $1-$1.50 (max) which still comes out under $3.00 a gallon.

last time I checked, it wasn’t easy to run a billion dollar company. He deserves his pay and I don’t think we are getting ripped off at the pump. Look at inflation over the years and look at the gas prices, they really have not moved up at all until a few years ago. Gas was about $1/gallon for the entire 80’s and 90’s.(I don’t really know if it was or not but I will say it for arguments sake. ) It’s finally moving up to where it is supposed to be due to inflation. I really don’t like paying $35/week to fill up but that’s just the way it is. If you don’t like it, get a better job or invest some money in Exxon and get some dividends coming your way. But whatever you do, QUIT BITCHING ABOUT GAS PRICES!!!

And about the sports players - they do absolutely nothing for society and play a fucking game for a living. They deserve about $8/game. But damn, I wish I could play a game and get 11ty billion dollars a year for it. :D:D:D

can you beat 97miles round trip? in a v8?
