Mustang Guys, Pull Up a Chair

I need some info from you guys. My dads looking to buy a mustang in the next couple of months, he wants pre 2005. He wants it to be a v8/ standard tranny. What years are the best for power and reliablity? He wants to get it thru a dealer for warranties etc. Anyone ever buy one from a dealer in buffalo area that has had a positive outcome? Any info would help and I am pretty much out of the loop when it comes to American muscle.

99-04 hands down. they are all over the place, very reliable, and a good platform if he decides to mod it in the future. Pre 99 (96-98) pretty much require head and intake swaps if you wanna get somewhere with the power…in 99 they went to power improved heads/intake. 94-95s are slugs and suck over all. Anything prior you wont find at a dealer around here most likely.

fwiw, i picked mine up from a used lot in b-lo 5.5 years ago…not 1 problem to date.

Who is He?

Also do what ever you can to not buy local. You can always get a better deal if you travel.

99-04 is the best based on what you said. They’re all pretty solid. 260bhp, 302btq, unless you look at the Cobras.

96-98 had almost the same motor, but skinny little valves. They’re slooooooooooow. Don’t bother.
94-95 are still the newer looking body but with the old 5.0 motor. Obviously you won’t find one with a warranty.

Are you talking about yourself in the third person ???

Anywho … 99-04 … great years to get … 01-04 have a tremac trans in them …

NO motor issues …
03-04 Terminators (Cobra) … amazing cars … 4v big power
99 bullitt … tough to get
99 35th anniv. also tough to get … but nice touchs done already
02-04 ? Mach 1 … IMO probably the best to get … 4v well setup cars

i had to edit the first post, i meant to say my dad not “he”. My sisters fiance has a 04 cobra superchaged and that thing is a blast to ride around in but he just wants a nice v8 gt and basic bolts ons that we can do together over the summer for some father and son bonding, the old man is 60 now and wants to finally have some fun driving again.

hands down … MACH 1

agreed. Mach 1 if your only going to do “bolt ons”…its pretty stout out of the box…if you want more of a challenge, get a GT…if you wanna go big right away, 03-04 cobra.

talk to illusion20. he is my cousin and his father owns a ford dealership.

even though i am a chevy guy i agree with everyone else, 99-04 are the best choices, we have sold/serviced plenty. good power and reliability and they look great

how about some dealers around here for the 03-04s . my dad found a 04 white gt with tan interior at Paddocks. Anyone ever do business there.

i tried to do business there once, they tried screwing me over. swore id never go back.

not to be repetitive but see illusion20 and make your life easier

what mustang is that?

2000 cobra R…you wont find one…and if you do, it aint gonna be cheap. Only 300 produced.

Good call.

I’ve always had a soft spot for the Bullitt too.

I agree with everyone about the Mach1, except if you want, you can find a pre-blown cobra for cheaper, they are basically mach 1’s minus the shaker hood.

a lot of nice mustangs on here
