My 1965 Nova II- 8.85@153.5 - Turbo kit FS

Minus whale tell me moar.

I think I am going to swap out the silicone lower rad hose for a rubber one tonight.

Thoughts?

My concern and reason I went silicone is this hose is extremely close to the hot side at the top clamp(thermostat housing). As in the silicone is basically touching at the lip. I worry rubber will not hold up. But I just can’t get the silicone to stop leaking. I fought silicone hoses on the rx7 as well.

can you buy a thermostat neck that is angled differently and toss it in? or orient the existing one 180* from where it is now? i’d need to see what it looks like to get an idea of what’s going on.

maybe something like this?

Build a radiator hose with metal piping and heat shield near the turbo?

See where the problem lies is the fact that you guys believe im interested in a proper solution involving actual work. :fu:

Why you only call me when you’re high?

First, awesome project. Ive been lurking.

I may have missed it but what clamps are you using on the silicone? I have all silicone coolant hoses on the cavalier and never had a leak using these clamps with the full (ribbed for her pleasure) liner.

Thanks!

I tried a regular work gear clamp and then a t-bolt clamp. It is in an awkward location and the t-bolt clamp was just too wide to fit how it needed I believe. I think rubber would solve the issue. But I am still worried about how close it is to the hot pipe.

I think Spam has something for me to try. If not I will order the ones above.

I knew this would happen… Cougarspeed originally wrote, “I thought I was on Mars one.”

he then edited it to once.

so you see I was being sarcastic and said I was in Mars TWO.

This thread is full of deception.

I come in here for proper grammar, wheel stands and burn outs…

I posted a picture of a wheel stand last page. It was siq.

I’m jealous, I always buy a pile and then dream of doing cool things with it, fail and then sell and try again. Although this last pile I’m making big baby steps towards doing stuff.

These builds take a lot of effort, time, and funds as I am sure you know. Many times at the end of the day you could have just purchased a newer more reliable car for the same amount. All that said to me it is still worth it to have something unique that I built. But man oh man do I question it sometimes.

That said tonight was a mixed bag…
Steering clunk/binding fixed. Took a little while but with the help of @Gus and his lady friend behind the wheel I was able to trace down the binding and center each joint properly. Excellent

Replaced the coolant hose clamp that was leaking with a unit @Spam16v provided. Have not yet tested it. Possibly Excellent

Installed the exhaust again after fixing the trans leak. OBX 4" v-band clamp snapped as I was tightening it. Not Excellent At All

Brand new fuel cell is leaking at one of the welds. Bummer and Not Excellent (thanks China)

Anyone know who might have an obx vband locally? I had a spare 4" vibrant but the flange on the obx looks wider so the clamp will not work.

Word, killer build as always, did you ever do the paint yourself on one of your builds? @cougerspeed

No paint. Ryan aka Ieatpaint handles the paint if I need any.

@cougarspeed soooo tired, and wasn’t even a late one lol

Yeah I know right! I am going to try to drive it this weekend. Leaking everything or not!

Someone find me a V-band clamp!

Still leaking coolant a tiny bit.

That VSS deal I bought was wider then I figured and am now going to need to use the BFH on the floor pan to make it fit. Tonight after work.

Aside from going to a rubber hose or just letting it leak a tiny bit im stuck on the coolant front. Gabluf.
