can’t wait to see it. what ever happened to the 70’s 4x4 frame?
Still have it. You want it? 10 bolt front/12 bolt rear axle. Pretty solid frame. Make an offer.
Who is painting it?
Mike Fiebelkorn at Fiebelkorn’s Collision in E. Eden.
Does this
fit?
I know they often bolted them to the blue flame vettes, but I’m not entirely sure if the blue flame is the same.
Never heard of. Hope it works out for you
Sweet project, man.
It’s crazy how some old engines had the intake and exhaust on the same side. Packages nicely, but what a thermal mess.
Yep that will fit the engine. Unfortunately the rear carb gets in the way of the firewall and shifter assembly or I’d have one on my truck. Mines just a 2x1 instead of the 3x1. The early Vettes came with 235’s but had a completely different intake with 3 sidedraft Weber’s on them from the factory. The manifold you have pictured is for a standard downflow 1 barrel like a Rochester B or Carter YF.
Most old engines are set up like this. lol at thermal mess. The other major drawback to this engine and many others were the siamesed ports. My engine has 3 intake and 4 exhaust ports in the head for 6 cylinders. Less than ideal… Hence the development of the 12 port head the flows straight across. Racers developed them back in the 40’s and 50’s. It was a huge improvement, but good luck finding one anymore. Besides, this is a street engine, not a racer lol.
Finally got some pics uploaded. Progress at the collision shop:
The front clip is off so we can block it a little easier. One more prime and it’s ready for color. Hopefully we’ll have the black sprayed this week, yellow next week if all goes well.
I love this build!
Nice
I still want to build a Small Block S10. Love Street Trucks.
sweet build!
Semi OT - I need a good body man to address a issue on my car. Does your place do small body work jobs? Not looking for full paint ATM.
Any updates? Moar pics plz
Not yet, I was out of town for a week so we had a bit of a delay. I’m hoping to have this thing in color in a week. Then I’ll finally be able to start bolting all these boxes of parts I have on it. I just wish winter wasn’t so close!!!
Alright, finally have an update. I haven’t had a lot of time to work on this thing, but we finally got the black sprayed.
Before:
After:
These pics are after the clear was sprayed (all 5 coats of it) but not wet sanded and buffed yet.
It sucks that I’ve been living at work, but at least I’m making some cash to spend on this thing. I don’t know when we’ll have a chance to shoot the yellow…hopefully before spring…
