After A few thread’s started, some conversation and research I decided that it was time to stop talking about swapping my engine and take the big step. I set up a meet with Varun and we sat down and talked numbers. The next step was to walk into the bank and take out a line of credit. A week later I got the call and after breaking his balls with my own issues I came to my senses and the car was delivered to Varun the following Friday.
The car was to undergo an s14 blacktop swap along with a 5 speed conversion, I also added a few other goodies to the price package.
Coming off the stock T28 is a 3” Megan turbo elbow, the car was also fitted with a HKS 3” cat back exhaust to providing a less restrictive path for exhaust gases.
To keep things cool an Apex’i intercooler was installed, but unfortunately the river of cash dried out before an aftermarket Koyo rad could be installed, the after market cone air filter was added on from the cold air intake I had on my KA, Also transferred over was my aftermarket carbon fiber oil cap for weight reduction.
A Greddy Type RS BOV had to be relocated because the battery was in the way, the BOV was welded near the bottom right hand corner of the engine bay.
To strengthen the chassis I bought both front and rear Megan strut bars (Not yet installed), and for suspension I purchased a set of Tein Super Street Coilovers (Not yet installed), and a B&M Short Shifter.
As for rims I am going to put on the same ones I had last year 17” Racing Hart C2 Evolution’s. For the rubber Hector at Mild 2 Wild provided some Federal tires (235/45R17 93V). I didn’t think any set of tires would last me till fall so I went with one of the least expensive tires. Also 300zx brake upgrade keeps me from rear ending people.
After all was said and done and the waiter brought me my bill I spent more in modifications then I did when purchasing the car, but It’s a small price to pay for some good memories. Nobody can understand why someone would spend so much money on a “car” unless they have the same passion. With all the money spent I could have bought a new Mazda 3 my sister says, and I simply reply I get excited every time I sit in my car, do you?.
For the first week my mother couldn’t sleep because she was terrified she would get that phone call but I like to keep my heavy foot for the empty parking lots. I’m not going to lie and don’t bash me because your not all little angles either I have given it once or twice but I really don’t feel the urge to drive it like its stolen because I understand I have been fortunate enough to be blessed with this car and its mod’s and I don’t want to lose it because I needed to prove I’m faster then a Honda accord with a painted black hood. And I also realized gas isn’t cheap especially when you have boost.
Once I get back on my feet some other modifications need to get done like Turbo timer, Boost controller, Maybe some new seats because the stock ones are starting to hurt my back. I think I’m done with power for now until I relearn my car, I believe the engine is rated around 220HP but I haven’t had time to put it on the dyno to see what it really puts out.
Some kinks need to be fixed but all and all I’m very happy with my swap and I want to send out a thanks to Varun at VHC Performance… If I had to do it all over again I wouldn’t have broken his balls so much and learnt how to drive standard in another car but the ride from Mississauga to Barrie at 12am was interesting. Feel free to add comments, keep in mind I have already been bashed about my hood pins so please feel free to keep those comments to yourself.
And enjoy the pictures…
