My custom twin turbo G8 GT build

damn gurl. Pardon the potential ignorance… but would you have issues picking up water based on turbo location?

I will be tuning this when I get it all together the way I like. Power goals will be in the 500hp range until I can revamp the fuel system and them then ill probably shoot for 6-700whp on e85 unless something goes boom first. lol I welded a stud off the one of each ear on the factory manifolds for weight support but aside from the exhaust and charge piping there is no additional support at the moment, but im sure it will not be a big deal if I decide I need more. Ive already looked into it. Turbo placement is fine, turbos aren’t stuffed behind the wheels and im not building a swamp buggy so im sure I wont have many issues picking up water or small animals. ill probably be fabbing up a skid plate regardless to protect the turbos themselves.

I would be proactive about the bracing. That’s a fairly large mass on a pretty big moment arm, all supported off a highly heat cycled mild/ss joint. I’m sure you can just tie the bell housing bolts to two of the compressor housing bolts. Probably less hassle doing that now than pulling them off later if that weld breaks. But hey, that’s just the engineer in me talking. It all looks very good though.

What’s the oil change interval on the turbo? I tried getting one for my Harley but they don’t make them that small.

A flex pipe would help and breakup the length of that movement arm.

did you look into aerocharger?

Sure, but then
A) it has to be supported anyway, so why not have it supported by both.
B) flex pipe before turbo kinds stinks.

Yeah. They’re still way bigger than the turbo I wound up using.

I’d rather isolate it from the movement and vibration of the rest of the system and support the mass directly. Then again…

Another Beautiful custom turbo setup from TurboCiv. 500 wheel would be great!

500whp on a twin turbo ls2 won’t be a problem. Upgrade the fuel system and you can get close to 700 on e85 no prob.

Looks real good. I need a cool fun dd like this!

My custom bonner… Hot damn

Dyno queen on his own dyno

Looks awesome! I was looking at all the pictures to see where you mounted the scavenge pump, then re-read the first post and saw oiless turbos. I didn’t even know they made such an animal. I am amazed how neatly they tuck up in the trans tunnel. Love the G8 platform too.

I thought he was pulling our legs. An oiless turbo sounds like black magic. Time to do some reading!

still think you pussed out going with mufflers  hope you at least got some sound clips of it dumping at the rear like that.

Can we talk oil-less turbo’s for a minute here? With the heat running through any turbo system, are these prone to earlier failure, etc? Let’s chat.

Any good online verbiage on them? I didn’t find much on a quick search.

I believe They are water cooled

You still need to run coolant lines to them.

i read 3 year service interval for the grease in the bearings.

its a 3 year service interval however they have recently came out with a greasable center section I may upgrade to in the future if I decide to keep this vehicle. The oiless turbo is a self contained unit, tri ceramic ball bearing that can be mounted in any position imaginable. up, down sideways, it doesn’t matter. Obviously the units need to be water cooled.

Pretty cool stuff. In for vids.
