My dog :( - UPDATE: He likes other dogs

This dog is really good. Not a lapdog, but great character, and I was totally surprised it showed any type of aggression at all.

he’s certainly not perfect, but for the most part he is pretty chill. He definitely hates Lee though. I really think Lee tried to rape my dog at some point, i’ve never seen him so afraid of anyone EVER as he is of him.

Yep, I’ve been in contact with educateabull and smilin’ pitbull rescue. smilin’ pitbull rescue is getting him listed in their adoption group but they haven’t put him up yet. They’ve been very helpful with information and what to do to get him ready to go to a new home.

Also, try to bring the two dogs together with just two humans. My dog is cool with meeting other dogs if it’s just me with him, but if it’s me, my wife and my daughter he goes into protect mode and gets pretty aggressive about staying between us and the new dog even if the new dog isn’t acting aggressive.

My wife and I are going to meet him this weekend

We met up on Saturday and I can say that this is definitely a cool dog. We walked in, and he was fairly mellow, exited to meet new people at first then calmed down after 5 minutes or so. Ne never barked or jumped on either of us. He maintained eye contact with me for 15 seconds or so at a time which shows he doesn’t have the need to dominate, and he’s not abused or timid. He let me grab his jaw (to look at me), and take the ball from his mouth, so he’s used to people and friendly. If you can take something like a toy out of a dog’s mouth, it’s a pretty good sign that they’ve had good relationships with people. I think that’s important for a middle aged dog.

We played a little ball and hung out for 45 minutes or so. Unfortunately we’re not going to be able to take him for a couple reasons. We decided on Sunday to do a pre-test, introducing our little Cairn Terrier to a big dog, and after three hours of trying we decided that it’s probably not going to work. For some reason he is aggressive toward big dogs. The other is that my wife was intimated by him, having never owned a big dog. I’m afraid that she’ll let him take her spot in the pecking order and we’ll have problems.

Someone scoop this cool dog up!

I was really looking forward to seeing my dog get handled by a bully goat

Again, no worries, understandable on all fronts

edit: and thanks for the kind words and bump

If the dog eats the kid you can always have another…

bump - he likes playing with other dogs, apparently… but still barks at other dogs when he is being walked on a leash.

The pulling while walking issue, my brother’s bit is about 70lbs of pure muscle, and he pulls hard. They got a choke chain for when his wife walks her, and shes calmed down a lot on the pulling. They did it for a few months while she walked the pit. Now she takes her out on a normal leash and the pit doesn’t pull anymore.

if the dog tries walking faster than you, it’s just gonna pull his head backwards

Bump - he’s officially listed with the rescue group and on pet finder…

I think they are overselling his liking of other dogs, but either way.

I say keep the dog. You can get way more $$ for selling the kid.

My 3 y/o son walks my little 55lb lab with that. I love how people give me dirty looks for putting a muzzle on such a nice dog.

Hopefully they find a good home for the dog.

FWIW, my neighbors dog has always hated me and all other men as long as they have owned it. About a month ago he was neutered, for the first time EVER, the dog was friendly with me and actually let me pet him.
