My downstairs remodel

I’m officially old. I would much rather come home and work on my house than my car.

I’ve got an upstairs bathroom that will be gutted next, then it’s a major overhaul of my kitchen, dining room and living room.

sorry, but this just came to mind…

get it?

What is your ceiling height down there? I am designing my basement right now and ceiling height is yet again a concern. One day I will have a good basement with 8’ ceilings.

A little over 7 foot. I’ve never understood the appeal of high ceilings. As long as I don’t have to duck I don’t see a problem with it. At almost 6’ I clear under that bulkhead with no issues. I love watching these remodeling shows where they’ll walk into some tiny 1000 sq/ft house in the city and go, “oh but it feels so much bigger because of the 10’ ceilings”. Maybe if I was 9’ tall but otherwise it’s pointless space.

These are the only ones I read anymore too

Great job Man!

Not a lot of updates. Got the base molding painted and installed as well as the base for the bookcase.

Bump… After 10 weeks for the special order and a week working to get it delivered because I was on vacation we finally have a proper home theater couch. 2 end recliners, 2 armless recliners that are basically 2 people wide and 2 consoles with cupholders.

And it only needs to be about 1" from the wall to be able to recline.

Nice man, looks good!

Wow first time I saw this thread and what a difference! Looks amazing.

Those are some napping recliners right there.

Awesome job!

I had that carpet in my last basement project. It was really nice and super easy to keep clean.

I like that recliner but I am not allowed to purchase anything with cupholders in it for some reason.

Killer!

My winter project is going to be the same.

What is it with wives and cupholders? This was a battle. I finally won when the salesman pointed out that since every seat reclines a coffee table wasn’t going to work.
