My experience with P and J Speedshop

Even if he did just drop the car off it is the responsibilty of the shop to provide accurate communication as to when the car is going to be done. Next week next week isn’t the same as 7 freakin weeks.

ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the next 8pg thread of 3rd-person driven drama. Upcoming highlights will include, but not be limited to: Everyone’s worthless opinion on that which they were not present for, friends and enemies jumping on various bandwagons, and before the Lock: an appearance by the guy who worked on the actual car! The truth may or may not come out, but pride will be hurt, dignity will be lost, and

time for a bowl of cereal

agreed, whole heartedly.

However, Mikey posted it in OT, not genauto. so, have at it.

I respect the opinion of very few people on this board, Mark is one of em that I do. So my questions are pretty straight foward.

Damn man sorry to hear about that. There’s gotta be enough 5.0 guys around that could lend a hand next time for some $ and some beer.

Plenty of offers…

I came in on a Friday, talked to John, told him what was going on, he gave me a few suggestions of stuff to try on my own, which I did over the weekend, to no avail. I came back in on that Monday and talked to John again, and he said well lets get it in here then as soon as possible so you can get in line. I said ok It’ll be here this afternoon. He gave the a recommendation of a towing service they use, and the car was there that afternoon. I had no problem waiting a couple weeks for the car because I understand that I didn’t have an appointment and if I did have an appointment then I’d be just as pissed as the next guy if I got pushed aside for some walk up work. But I also think that 7 weeks is pushing it.

Further more, I’m not angry at the fact that it sat there for 7 weeks so much as I was angry that every time I called for the last 3 weeks, I was told “a couple more days” “you’re next in line” “we’ll have it done for you this weekend” and so on and then not coming through with it. I’m sure they damn well know that they were backed up however many weeks (when you’re in the business like that, I would think you get a good feel for how long stuff takes and whatnot), and yet the kept telling me it would be soon. I would rather be told straight out “hey we’re running behind on work its gonna be a while longer than we said” than being given the run around and made false promises.

and plenty of PMs sent on my end…no replies :gotme:

Mike,
I wish if you had a issue such as this that we would discuss it, instead of going all over forums ranting and raving like this. I also would like to set the record straight the job took from 10am to 3pm. When i called you mid day I did not say the car was finished, I told you of the problems that were obvious. Besides the labor which was 5 hours the parts were a egr valve, fuel pump relay, the correct calibration tube for your mass air meter. Also i fixed the harness that was melted on the header. So if you were to take it to a normal repair shop which labor rates vary from $68-80 an hour, the labor alone would be over $300. Also i didn’t tell you it was going to definitely be $400, I said between $300 and $400. Which when you add it all up it is not unreasonable.
In response to the time it took, you dropped the car off without a appointment. The cars that left before you had appointments, spring is a very busy time and we told you that, then you said that you were in no hurry. Also John never told you it would be a couple hundred bucks because at first you wanted us to install a supercharger and tune it, which everyone knows that would be more than a couple hundred bucks.
I thought there was no issue when you called and apologized about blowing up earlier. I just wish that this could have been resolved when we talked the last time on the phone, instead of acting like everything was great and then bushing us all over forums.
I just wanted to set the record straight

so is the car supercharged now or not

you know when you go to any shop, its going to be expensive…that life.

two sides to one story…let the fight begin

I still dont understand how you’re “not sure” how much its gonna cost. Labor x hours spent on the car + parts + tax? doesnt seem that hard to figure out to me. I was NEVER told about you fixing an EGR valve,(which I dont understand how when there is no EGR on the car to begin with), i don’t know where you found a harness melted on the header , nor did you ever mention any other parts involved. I’m not bashing you on the forums, I’m stating my experience with you I feel that what I said is a very accurate representation of what happened and it isn’t one sided. When I first dropped the car off, John said he was busy and it would be a few days before they got to look at the car. And you’re right, I said thats was fine I wasn’t in a hurry. but 7 weeks? come on now! I dont care how you cut it: taking 7 weeks and me having to call every week and threaten to take my car elsewhere is an unacceptable way to do business and shitty customer service in my book.

no. the car wont be out this year most likely. too much else needs to get done and I don;t have time to work on it right now so it’ll just sit in my garage and i’ll have at it a little at a time til its done.

So you have a supercharger on the car, but can’t see why the stock MAS from 92 would be the issue?

Read much?

in on two

boo fucking hoo what i see here is a shop trying to get people who made appointments weeks in advance in and out, having some kid come in and say, hey fix this idk whats wrong with it, im in no hurry, then feel like he’s doing a whole bunch of people a whole bunch of good by telling them about his shitty experence when YOU half assed it from the get go. maybe if youre so unhappy next time take it to a ford dealer lol.

It seems to me that your not even mad it took 7/8 weeks, if you were you would have posted about this weeks ago. maybe your just upset it cost so much, but i dont think 4 bills is unreasonable, shit my roomie just paid 300+ for an alternator on a damn cougar…it does suck it took so long but from my expirience going fast takes time, especially to do it right. All in all atleast its running and you have it back, hopefully it will be blown soon
