My Firebird. Need Help!

Hey everyone, I need some expert/veteran/1337 advice.

At this moment, my car is off the road. I thought it was the crank positioning sensor, but now it may be the timing chain. I believe it was the stock chain on 75,000 miles.

Anyways, the car will be in the garage for the winter, and I’m looking to make her run.

Plans already:
-sub frame connects
-pacesetter lt’s

those are set in stone.

In the past 6,000 miles…
All synthetic every 3 grand
New optispark, new msd wires

Now for the winter I’m not too sure what else to bolt on.
I want a reliable summer car, that will run high 11’s and spray into the 10’s. Eventually… But getting to those numbers on a reliable car is going to take some work. I know lt1’s can be a nightmare, so I don’t want to make n00b mistakes. I’m not looking for “buy a ls1” because I already plan on that.

What should I do? If I have to replace the timing chain, can I go with a PJ Gear drive? I hear they lose some horses around 6500 - 7500 rpm. But at the same time, I’ve talked to people that say they hold their own.
Does anyone recommend a 383 rebuild? I’m really new to this motor, and don’t want to fuck it up…

I’m open to all input, well except sell the bitch.

Gus
