just flush it its only gonna get colder bud the colder it gets the less the core is gonna be able to heat up as the few rows that do flow in it will cool down faster :nod

Sounds like air in the system for sure, take the old tstat and put it in a pot on the stove, fill pot with water and leave a thermometer in it while heating the water, if it opens at the right temp, the tstat was/is not the issue.

no coolant is because it has 60 k on it and never checked or refilled and it has the typical spring clamp leaks on the hoses

The heat seems ok now and I just got home again. Blasting hot and I could probably roast marshmallows off it on high now.
