alright im pretty sure i know the answer to this thought id just post it anyways… i put water in my truck for the coolant and my heat is sucking cock since its getting colder out if i get coollant i will have better heat right:banghead
use urine
um, put coolant in your motor before you split the block in a hard freeze. NE daily driver, 50/50 water/coolant mix iis what you should run
Shitty heat is likely a bad thermostat. change that out…
or clogged heater core
well i have like 50-50 but i might do a little coolant flush see if that works
50-50 is what you’re supposed to use.
Check the t-stat, if it’s not that then the heater core is bad.
Is it blowing cold air or is it not blowing any air at all? If theres nothing you might have to clean out the intake cowl under the windshield. That usually gets clogged up with shit over time.
it blows air but like by the time i get to school thats when its like hardcore heat like it takes a while to get it real hot
Check to see if it’s getting up to operating temp (IDK what the operating temp is). If not, your T-Stat could be stuck open.
Heater cores usually leak when they go bad (from corrosion) but i’ve seen them clog before. My dad’s old Cavalier went through like 3 of them in it’s 20 year lifespan. :lol
dont be a pussy, ive been driving to hvcc every day with no heat and with the windows down 1/2 way there so my breath wont fog the windows. :lol
I did the no heat thing (bypassed leaky heater core) with my Mustang the first fall and winter I owned it.
For some reason I drove it around alot like that and it wasnt even my daily driver so I didnt need to drive it at all.
actually i just took out my heater controls and put in a switch panel lolz
what are you driving now since you sold the truck?
great story guys.
i was driving the cutlass until i blew out 3rd and 4th, i drove teh sky40 today :eek3
Is heat cold at idle but hot if you hold it at like 3k rpms?
Sounds like T-stat
What year truck? How are the lines set up? Take a look at that. I can only speak of three examples PERSONALLY but I think almost any water pump has lines that actually bypass the thermostat so the heatercore gets water from the getgo. If its new enough does it have elecronic climate control? What Im getting at is there might be a coolant control valve near the heatercore in the lines somewhere. If that isnt opening…no water flow.
Thermostat doesnt make sense…that is unless its stuck OPEN and allowing too much flow through the radiator and the whole system doesnt come up to temperature.
i would start by putting 50/50 its like 10 bucks at advance auto and then change the thermostat if thats not working sound like something with the heater core.
rofl
stuck t-stat, clogged heater core, or a huge airlock.
