My Introduction To Old Age

I’d rather stick that light up my ass prior to riding the Cyclone then own a Volvo.

No one’s stopping you.

Yes…but you hate just about everything anyway, so whatever blows your skirt up.

Wanted to mess with the camera on my phone the other night, so I drove out to the lake to snap a few pictures. My phone is supposed to be good with taking low light photos…I’m not so sure, but I’m still playing around with the settings/features.

I’ve got to get some better pictures.

And thank you for responding to my PM, will give you a ring soon!

Mine started doing this weird thing where it will stumble when trying to start it, but if you keep cranking the engine it will always start! So like rin-dindin glug rindindin vrooommmmmmm. Fires right up.

At this point I’m just hoping it makes it through the winter hahaha

No problem. You just let me know.

I was greeted by a CEL this morning. Turned out to be a PO410 - Secondary Air Injection System. So it’s most likely a bad SAS valve, a pump, or both. There’s a real easy way to check if it’s the valve, so I’m going to try that first, but for now I cleared the code. Good thing I don’t need an inspection for a while…

Edit: Found a link to a cheap and easy diode mod that has two ways that it can be done. The best solution IMHO, which is the one I will most likely do when it gives me shit again, will be to use the diode installed between A32 (GN-SB wire) and A37 (BL-P wire) in the harness to the ECU. The other way is to crack open the ECU and do the same thing to those same two pins, but I don’t like that idea. Say I sell the car and for some reason the ECU gets swapped out. The new owner will have a perpetual CEL until they notice that I took the air pump out. The first way I mentioned ensures that the mods go with the car and not the processor.

So, uh, haven’t checked in in a while…nothing exciting going on. Haven’t bothered with the resistor mod yet and I need to. The light has come and gone (I clear it when it comes on) about three more times since the initial onset of this problem. I just don’t have a warm place to work on it comfortably yet/haven’t gone to RadioShack for the resistor and MSBS and I’ve been busy.

Also, the slight rattle I have coming from what I am assuming is a bad RF strut mount/spring seat/bearing is getting a bit worse. Good thing I have some suspension mods planned anyway. I priced out some KYB struts and shocks from my local CarQuest because they give me special pricing due to working for a local Ford dealer. Why not take advantage? I’m unfortunately not made of money. Now, instead of the IPD lowering springs, I’m considering a set of H&Rs (due to complaints about the IPDs of bad ride quality), but have reservations about the H&Rs too. Maybe Eibach? Not sure, but either way I’m going with some IPD HD spring seats and mounts when it comes time to do this. Then maybe some IPD sways. Other than that I’ve just been trying to keep up with at least keeping the interior as clean as I possibly can, then running to the car wash when it isn’t so far below freezing…and mother of god has it been fn cold for the last couple of days. As I’ve mentioned before, I hate when I can’t keep my car minty fresh…

So I got my fogs (driving lights?) working. They need just a little adjustment methinks…

Yay. Car wash!

Whatever. I’m a dork.

I love it!

Thanks Joe.

S70 T5 5 speed AWD on eBay right now. Pretty uncommon in that config.

Fuck. That is pretty rare. The only problem being that the AWDs were low pressure turbos. Would still be an awesome DD depending on how much maintenance it needed.

Edit: Upon further research no such car ever made and the VIN is for a FWD T5

saw thread title, assumed volvo thread, disappointed anyway

I aim to please…

Don’t like it? GTFO.

This is just too fucking rad not to share.

Also, sharing here because: Volvo content.

It’s time for some more maintenance.

I decided to clear the driveway for the eleventybillionth time this season (this winter shit is getting really old). Took both vehiculars out of the garage to knock the built up salt/snow/slush stalactites off them, then shovel the remaining gunk out of the garage. That’s when I discovered that my car had decided to start marking it’s territory. I crawled under it while it was running to see what I could see and found evidence that it had been pushing oil out the dipstick tube. Pulled the dipstick out part way while it was running and it’s puffing smoke out of the tube…sweet. Time for a PCV system replacement. This is going to be a pain in the dick. It’s not hard, just time consuming and I was hoping that I wouldn’t have to do it just yet.

I finally got a few resistors for the SAS delete, so it looks like I’ll be doing both at the same time as well as an oil change. Oh, I have to figure out why my fog lights stopped working as well. Yay for old cars!

It’s a Volvo, that’s why. The only cars that make VAG cars seem reliable are Volvo’s.

Thanks for the astute observation. Got any more earth shaking revelations for me, hero?
