My NEW 1984 BMW (Yes, another one.)

Well, the throwout bearing (that has been making it’s fair share of noise for the last month or so) finally went, so I’m replacing the clutch, pressure plate, throwout and pilot bearings, and slave cylinder. Good thing I checked the slave, the shaft just fell out onto the ground when I removed it from the car, thanks to a very damaged diaphram. Oh well, I can’t complain. I’ve driven this car (almost) daily for 14 months straight with no large problem.

Well good luck man and if you need any help…um never mind just good luck

All done, went smooth as butter. The throwout bearing was half as thick as the new one was… Also did some nice work to the pressure plate fingers.

So much nicer to drive now.

Glad to hear it went smooth!

Not a bad looking car in '84, I dig.

Success once again, second year in a row at Crooked Euros/Sendell Motors Oktoberfest.

Not much of a project at the moment, more of a daily driven mega-long-term project. Got some new snow tires for it for this winter to throw on it (Blizzacks), and I’m probably going to rebuild the heater valve here in the near future so I can have heat over 50 MPH. Other than that, it’s just going to be driven. Next summer I NEED to get another set of wheels with summer tires, or at least get summer tires to put on it. I just keep burning off the snow tires from the previous winter through the year… needs an alignment pretty badly.

Maybe new shocks all around next summer. Needs those pretty bad.

Long term projects on this car (I will probably never get to any of this unless I hit the lottery and magically get free time)
-Rust repair
-Coilovers (or air bags) to minimize 4x4 stance
-Wheels
-New air dam (or have current professionally restored)
-Paint
-Seats recovered
-A/C system restored/fixed/converted to 134a
-Short throw/replace shifter bushings (got a throw like a dump truck currently)
-Turbo/cammed M30B35, S38 Swap, or LSx/6 Speed swap (to solve the current slower-than-molasses-in-Alaska-in-December problem)
-3.91 or 4.10 LSD
-840i/850i control arms
-Reinforced rear subframe/new bushings all around
-E34 540i rear brakes, E32 750i front brakes
-Stereo I can hear over the exhaust and wind on the highway

Or just sell it and buy something already quick and shiny later on.

should of run a dozier though the parking lot while the show was going on!

You unshaven kook. Darn bimmer owners.

Sure should have! There definitely wasn’t enough Chebbys at the European car show!

:hsugh:

EDIT: I lied, there was. Right behind the shithouses where it belongs.
