yikes, that 04 has had a rough life…

everytime i went by it was being worked on…was sitting on jack stands at norwoods for the longest time

why would ya go backwords on power ? the 5.0 is cheaper and makes more power

not stock for stock john, they switched over to the 4.6 for a reason. stock for stock it makes sense. it gets better gas mpg’s also. but i would have done a 4v of any kind over that. BUT once he gets the 2v up and running, he can then swap in a 4v easily, or just get a set of 4v heads and swap over the timing cover and equipment. cant wait to see it when its done!

i always thought stock -stock the 5.0 felt better . both slow but the 5.0 was better to me anyway

To me the 4.6 feels faster stock, atleast my friends bone stock '98 felt alot faster than my 5.0 when it was pretty much stock with just an intake and exhaust. I think the hp was right around the same with mine and his (225 stock for mine).

I still couldnt justify swapping in a smaller motor.

Is the notch a 2.3 car though?

either way, its a bit more modern and will still make a fun car, no doubt

There are guys running high 12’s with bolt on, tuned, geared 2V’s. So in a lighter platform it will have potential. Setup correctly with full bolt ons, cams, gears, suspension, and tires should potentially be able to run high 11’s at 115+.

Def would have done a 4V as well, but this will be cool nonetheless!! Keep it updated

NO YOU WOULD HAVE JUST BOUGHT A NEW 5.0 INSTEAD OF FINISHING A TURBO BUILD.

Whatever.

Yanking a 4V out of an old Mark VIII wouldnt have been a terrible idea. Could get a 5.4 block and swap all the PI 2V stuff over, Id rather have that than a 4.6 4V.
