This is what insurance is for. It would make me mad but in the end it doesn’t seem worth wasting precious seconds of my life caring. Pay deductible and move on. I mean you are going to die one day. It could literally be any day. Just straight dead. Imagine you wasted the last week of your life fretting over something like this. If there was a true injustice I could see picking a battle, but this has a simple solution. I’d go the simple way and then go back to drinking beer in my back yard while making some shit.
I think you’ve settled into too boring a life when this becomes something to care about. Shit happens and people are shitty. The world always has and always will be a terrible place. I’m done trying to rectify it. Just enjoy the ride and then drop dead one day.
Bicycles are considered vehicles in NYS. If the owner of the bike does damage to your property you can go after them. You don’t need to have insurance on a bicycle, but If the owner of the bicycle has homeowners or renters insurance your insurance company can go after that as sometimes they cover these things.
The problem is they left and your wife never got a police report as you should with any collision.
You’re likely just going to end of having to pay your deductible and move on.
Sure, but they should still be on the street. Anyone suggesting that cyclists need to stay on the sidewalk probably doesn’t spend much time on a road bike. I don’t need my entire seat to make it’s way up my ass.
I do stay off 40mph roads when out biking…just cant trust anyone in a car. I cant even say that I wish that there were more bike lanes cause it really wouldnt do crap for a road like sheridan or transit.
So much hate for bicyclists (sometimes deserved), but she could have just as easily hit your parked car while driving a Dodge Neon, or while rollerblading, or commuting by pogo stick. Vroom, shhhh.

WNY is so loosely populated it’s usually not that much of a hindrance, even in Tonawanda, to share the road. And it’s usually easy as a bicyclist to use roads that are offer more room or are less busy and don’t add much travel time that interacting with angry drivers isn’t much of an issue. There are sections where it’s necessary to share the road for a short time (particularly bridges), and I’m sure it doesn’t add that much time to the motorists’ commute to be courteous and safe (it could just as well be somebody driving 10 mph below the speed limit which is pretty common in Tonawanda!).
If I were to get into biking I’d actually buy a bike that allowed me to ride sidewalks rather than streets. Bicyclists are just way to all over the road more times than not.
just like people in general, it isn’t necessarily accurate to group everyone by what time of recreational or commuter vehicle they enjoy. To reiterate, riding a bicycle on a sidewalk is illegal in the city, as it should be.
Way more chances for getting hit riding on a sidewalk over the shoulder. Plus, you look like a douche rocket riding on the sidewalk. Also, how do you hit a stationary object on a bike? I could see getting doored, or hitting a tree/rock/some other object while mountain biking, but hitting a parked car??
I’m not that all pissed off about it to be honest. I’m more upset with the fact that no one seemed to care about another persons property being damaged. People are fucking assholes and I’m really tired of the way society has become.
Anyways an update. I work from home on Fridays so I took a stroll around the neighborhood and found the guys truck. I called the police and they came out. PO was really cool about it and said he would go talk to the guy but other than that I’d have to go through insurance or take her to court. PO came back 20 mins later with the guys contact info. I waited until Saturday to call the number hoping they would stop by my house. Long story short the husband stopped by Sunday night. He works at a local collision shop and said he would fix all the damages and that he was sorry. I told him I wasn’t worried about the damage and I was more concerned with the fact that his wife damaged my property and both her and yourself were inconsiderate of the whole situation. We talked for a bit and he’s generally a decent human being other than his wife whose a fucking idiot for slamming into a parked vehicle.
I was informed she broke her wrist and fractured her arm.
Not at all. I laughed my ass off when I went back into the house after chatting with him. From what he told me she was upset about her bike because she loved it some much… fuck my property though.
Sadly this is how the would works these days, everyone is about themselves.
Was he rolling his eyes at the fact that his retarded wife broke herself on a fucking parked car, or was he being a passive aggressive douche like so many people can be… even when wrong.
I sure as hell would be rolling my eyes if I were him. Funny stuff.
Glad you found him and it’s getting fixed on his dime. Sucks that you had to play PI and plop the guy right in the cop’s lap to get any results and even then the cop still was like, “oh well, I’ll talk to him but if he denies it you’re going to have to sue”. It’s a property damage accident where they left the scene and with her injuries and the resulting medical records it’s a pretty open and shut case of guilt. In that medical file they more than likely even stated that she ran into a car on her bike.
As someone who rides more in one year compared to what this twat has in her whole life-fuck her and her bike. If she loved it so much she would ride in a place with actual hills and not hit parked objects and ride off like a twat. I hope the wrist she broke is the one she uses to flick her bean.
