I know several people that had EPT brand tests come back negative when they were pregnant and this was well after a month had passed. She may have been pregnant longer than you think or is the second week of July the definite due date (pre sonogram)? Congrats!!!
This is the second test she took, the calculation on the due date is the first day of her last period, plus 11 days, minus 3 months. The doctor will give the actual due date but it will probably be the same.
