No restrictor, NFG! haha

As far as the Audi goes, I got the thing pretty close to together.

Filled it with fluids, primed the fuck out of the turbo and power steering then attemped to fire it up. Had a lot of cranking going on, not a lot of running. Gave up for the day then suddenly I had a flashback to me reinstalling the wiring harness and not remembering where the two power breakers went by the ecu. I flipped them around and sure enough the car started right up!

Upon start up I heard a dentist drill noise though. I kept letting the car run though then I realized it wasn’t the turbo it was the AC compressor (You can turn the nosie off with the AC button inside the car lol) So all things considered I am happy with the first start up. I burped the car and filled it to the brim with dex-cool and checked the oil. Everything seemed pretty good.

However Right now I’m running into a low oil pressure warning light. I believe it has something to do with a bad sensor but worst case, I may have to pull the oil pan to scrape gunk off the oil pickup screen.

Anyways, onto the next project!

I bought this car off of a forum member for a decent price. However, the car needs some work.
First and foremost, the transmission has a hole in the case somewhere. Second off the car will need a timing belt very shortly. Also there is some body damage I intend on fixing.

I already ordered a TDI transmission and got to work.

Ripped out the linkage, battery tray and hydraulics from above.

Jacked the car up and began work on getting the axles pulled.

However as it stands right now I’m stuck on getting the axles unbolted. The 12 point metric allen keys I have are too big.

hows the ebay turbo holding up on the audi?

So far so good. I idled it for appx 20 minutes and there was nothing funny going on.

Got bored on sunday while I waited for tools and parts.

So I detailed the interior as best I could. Still dirty, but much cleaner.

Then today my tool came (Transmission should be here soon, I think…) so I pulled the remainder of the bolts and dropped the tranny.

And ouch!:

WTF!

error404: missing piece not found! lol looks good, and what you use to clean the interior (chemicals)?

Goof off, and then some meguires interior crap.

looks great for what it is, trust me you don’t wanna detail a car or truck with dog hair, thats a nightmare…

*Brazilian! Master Power 4L

Glad to see progress, holy **** at that hole!

differential is riveted to the ring gear… over time shock load “loosens” said rivets, and eventually they either slide out and rub a hole, or fall out completely and make an untimely “exit” through the case. It’s usually external to the outside and not into the bellhousing, but anything is possible with minimal clearances and a foreign piece of steel with rotating mass.

Any updates I like this thread alot for some reason…

He was on crutches at the BBQ but I don’t know how much that will effect his wrench turning.
