My turn for a car recommendation

im not a bmw guy by any means but based on your guidelines i would also say 335.

i love my a4 as a daily driver but thats it. its sooooooo SLOWWWWWW.

…oh and if you are bitching about having to replace a hpfp on that car dont even bother looking into an m5.

Walker, is the same issue present on the e60 m5?

335I with some bolt ons will be between 350-400 whp. It will take alot to get a 2.0T to that number…

I own a 335 and a a4 2.0t btw, the 2.0t is is a great daily, but thats all it will ever be for me.

you could get a pretty stout s4 in your price range

the V8 S4s suck… now the new supercharged 6 ones are awesome, especially with a flash, but that’s way out of the price range.

you realize the b8 s4’s have the supercharged 6 cyl…

I meant to type V8, but hit “B” … fail!

I wouldn’t get get a B7 S4 either. I have 2 friends at home, 1 with S4 and one with Mazdaspeed3, and from what I hear, the Mazdaspeed3 walks the S4 with ease. So that’s kind of shitty for the S4. Could be driver error, but it’s still a shitty result.

as a previous owner of a v8 s4 i will say it was by far the best daily driver i have ever had but fast it most certainly is not.

335i [/thread]

I want to love it, but it’s underpowered, understeer prone, gets HORRIBLE fuel economy, and just wansn’t fun to drive. (I’ve driven two of them). I’d rather have an A6 w/ V8 because then you get a bigger and nicer interior at least. I would probably get the M5 in reality.

^^^what are you comparing? the s4 to the a6? or the 335 to the a6?

my point with his gripe on the hpfp was that if he cant stomach replacing that then he has no business owning an m5.

I’m just bitching about the V8 S4 in general and then comparing it to other V8 german sedans… but I’m way off topic now (and you’re right with your point)

This point is on point

335 hpfp’s are covered for 10years or 120K or something like that FYI

Saw the 2008 e63 at the merc. dealer yesterday. It is above my budget but I can swing it. How’s the maintenance of an AMG car vs. the 335? I am only looking at certified cars, but that severely limits my choices of cars. And in honesty I would rather have an E55 over the E63 but you can’t find a CPO’ed E55 anymore.

a 2 min search of cars.com and i found 3

Is the transmission a factor? auto vs. manual?

manual preferred unless it’s an AMG.

Found these today:

Price of the first one is awesome, but no coral red interior. Second one is perfect, but a lot higher in price. Either of them are CPO.

Anyone have any comments on finding a CPO BMW vs. a private sale? I like CPO due to the low interest rates but finding the exact car I want is slim to none.

I went through this last year… a5’s were more money then :frowning: but yea… the decision was easy for me once i started looking/driving them.

Warranty is a must.

it does…

yea, but almost any 2005 (or many 2006s) will almost instantly be out of CPO based on their in service date… not mileage.
